How long should I let my Voxicle thaw?

24-48 hours like a Rick? Don't know if I can wait that long again.
I let the box rest on the couch for about 8hr





Then unpacked the case and let it sit for another 3 hours.



I thought it would be safe at this point to pop the case for a minute to take a pic but... dagnabit! The dang seller I bought from wrapped it up in all this protective foam junk so I can't see a thing!



How long do you think I have to wait till I can unwrap this mummy?

Nice find, Mitch. Looks to be in great condition, too. Rotsa ruck with that vibrato tailpiece, though. Trems may not work all that great on 12-strings, but they do add a lot to the cosmetic coolness factor. Yours is a good example.

Actually,the guy who used to own the guitar removed the trem spring and replaced it with a wooden dowel to improve the tuning stability.It's a pretty cool mod(alot of people just removed the trem arm)and is totally reversable if I ever find find a spring(the only missing part).

Rhoads Music might have the XII string Trem spring. I use the whammy on my Vox XIIs. They work fine. Just set the guitar up nicely. A lighter gauge 12 string set also helps, as it makes it easier for the whammy bar spring to return to true. I use an Ernie Ball .008 to .042 set. I can't find it in stores, but I have found it online. It's also very easy on the hands.

Thanks alot Paul!I will have to call Rhoads Music to see if they have a spring.The guy I bought the VOX from set it up with new strings and it plays really well right now.But I will look for a set of the Ernie Ball strings when I change strings.

You could also ask the previous owner to keep an eye out for the spring and stay in touch with you so he can send it to you if he ever finds it!

Unfortunately,the guy I bought it from is not the original owner.He said he bought it the way it is now.The original spring is long gone.
