If you look at ebay item #250343789990, you will see what NOT to do. His photos would have been greatly improved if he had moved the bass 6 feet from the background and flared the background. It's true that your background light can wrap around the subject, but only if the subject is too close to the background. Still, it will take some practice.

I have seen the wraparound from subjects are were far enough away from the BG. It is a major PITA to try and make prints that look good when that has occurred. Part of the issue is not having enough main light on the subject so the BG lighting dominates the image.
