Okay, I'm often accused of maybe being a little bit too careful with my Ricks. You know, I'll Scratch-X and Zymol the older ones 'till they shine like new...I'll store them in their case when I'm not using them...When I set my Ricks down at band practice or a gig, I'll always put them on a very sturdy stand...I like to keep my Ricks clean, and I do get bummed out when I ding a previously un-dinged Rick. But this product seems a little extreme:

I'm OCD myself Jeff,

I even bring a fresh cloth diaper each Sunday when I play.

I'm frequently seen wiping it down to keep it clean. My excuse? "keeps the strigs alive longer"...Hey, it works! LoL!

All my RICs are stored when not in use. I've had too many horrible things happen to my NON RIC basses sitting out on a stand. Thankfully, I play sitting down, so my bass NEVER leaves my hands for the whole 3 hour set.

OH, and with a belly like mine, I NEVER EVER have to worry about buckle rash! Haven't worn a belt since 1982!

I don't worry too much about the finish, but I do wipe strings every time I set a guitar down. That makes the difference between a set of strings lasting one week or six weeks.

I wear a standard style buckle and have never had a buckle rash problem after gigging for years. Even without my current gunt. I never understood how people grind the finish off the rear of their guitars.

I always take care when gigging with my Rics but am certainly not OCD about it. They get wiped down the day after.....ones with a CV finish get regular waxing and the rest get tung oil treatments several times a year. At gigs they are strategically placed on my stand of preference and at home they are in cases unless they are in use.

I certainly attempt to keep them flawless but several minor nicks/scratches are almost inevitable with any routine use. My LK hardware is trashed and I certainly wouldn't say that it has been abused......just used. You can't keep 'em new forever if you're a player.

BTW......the guitar cozy is heinous.

I feel your pain man. I've been told more than once that 'Felix Ungar' is my middle name. I can't help it, it's just the way I am. Being a player and not a collector, I never have more than two basses at a time. The last three I sold on ebay (at different times) received feedback like, "better then described", "looks new", etc. The last one had seen seven years of use. But the AxeGlove? I don't think so.

I'll even pull my belt around so that the buckle is on my left side when I play.

But really, it ain't gonna kill me if my bass gets a ding. And I guess in the end, I'd prefer dings to a guitar condom!

That thing reminds me of the so called "bras" they put on the front of cars to protect the finish from rock chips and such.

I've always thought things like this are kinda weird in that you cover up what you want to protect so you can't even see it. I suppose with a guitar, you could take it off and put it back on all the time, but what a pain...

I try ti keep my Ricks in the best condition I possibly can. Most of the dings and scratches you would find on them, would be on the ones I bought used that were caused by previous owners. I've also been accused of being a little too careful with my Ricks, but that's me! However I wouldn't put that bunny suit on any of them!

Ridiculous. What's the point of protecting the paint? So it looks good, right? So what good does nice looking paint do ya when it's covered in a silly clown costume?

I'll post a pic of the back of my main 4003S later. It's not pretty. Neither is my Les Paul bass. I do turn my belt to the side when I'm using the S/8. That's just too pretty to destroy in my usual fashion! And the CS doesn't see any live action at all.
