Has the "economy" affected your new Rick plans

When I ordered my 360 in September I knew that my tax return would pay it off long before it got here. So my answer is no.

Did you get a firm price on the 360 Lynda? Just wondering if the dip in the Canadian dollar could affect the price when it arrives.

Britinvasion.....You raise a good question. I tend to think the recession does not affect me were I to consider buying another Rickenbacker. Stating the obvious, you can buy new or used or trade. Having those options facilitates the "search and buy" process. Right now, I don't need another guitar. Well, wait a sec.....I never really need another guitar but do I want another one? Not to derail this thread too far, but a nice VOX Continental (Italian, late '60s vintage) just went for $675.00 on Ebay with stand and original volume pedal...this would have been a $1200-1500 item a few months back...

Unless an AFG 350v63 jumps out from behind a car, puts a gun to my head and says "buy me, punk!!" I pretty much have all the Rickenbackers I'm looking for.

Apart from that I have other fish to potentially fry................

I am cashed up and looking to buy but the way the AUSD has crashed against the USAD There is no point. I ve just turned my nose up at 2 620/12's on eBay

Between the economic “slow down” and RIC prices going up last year. I personally have passed on two RICs that I wanted. One was a fretless bass, and the other was a new Jaguar Tan Annie.
I think that the backlog on RICs orders is from guitar shops that ordered a year or two ahead of time. I have noticed a fast build up of stock at each of the stores I watch and fully expect a glut in the near future.
My opinion is the people buying at this point either have enough money on hand to not care about the recent economic conditions (relatively few), or they ordered a while ago and are contractually bound to a purchase. Some will cancel no doubt.
Since I don’t see RICs as a new phenomenon in the local music scene, my guess is that most sales have been driven by the tail end of the baby boomers who happen to be watching their retirement funds dry up and blow away.
Priorities will take over.

The market is always going up and down, if you can wait - it will get back high again.
I do feel that this economy crash is going to be harder than the exploding bubble of early 2000's, but within a few years it should be over and the "bubble" will return imho.
This is actually a good opportunity to purchase instruments as more people need to sell their equipment and less people can afford them. This is going to be a buyer's market!

I certainly agree with this. I have also noticed more availability and lower prices. But, the reason I have had the time to look for these great deals is due to a layoff from work. I have plenty of time, but little money to spare. I hope things return to "normal" soon.

I was considering buying a new 4003JG this year, till I became one of California's 9% unemployed earlier this month. I've been at GM dealers for over 20 years and more or less sailed through two recessions, but nothing like this. The government loans 350 billion to financial institutions that won't loan it out, but they want the Big Three to jump through hoops for less than 10% of that....which is funny when you consider the government runs a half trillion dollar deficit every year. Okay, rant over.

The economy hasn't really affected my new Rick plans. I bought a new 620 a few weeks ago, even though I did become one of the 9% of California's unemployed. Luckily I found a new job right away on the other side of the country.
