my newest addition
Heres the latest addition to the family . July 72 . What a killer bass. This is the first pre 73 i have ever owned. Super thin neck , Flamy maple, And sounds so smooth and sweet i wept with joy .I put a hipshot aluminum bridge on it and it has changed tuners . But ,everything else is straight up on it
Re: my newest addition
sweet bass. Congrats.
Re: my newest addition
Very nice! Nice figuring in the maple too. I personally haven't seen too many Mapleglo 4001's with checker binding and always wondered how it would look. Looks pretty good!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Sweet looking bass. Congrats. Love those inlays.
I'd return the tuners to stock, though. I think they look better. I always thought those slim-line tuners (or whatever they're called) look cheap. Guess because I see so many Asian import basses with them. But what I think doesn't matter anyway...you only have to please yourself.
Now go plug it in and play the bejeezus out of it!

A friend of mine give me a call about this bass . It was in a pawn shop. I called up the owner and asked for some pics and basic information. 1,200.00 later, and here she sits.

I hate to admit it. and although they dont look as cool. The tuners i have on it now are far superior than the old tuners. I have to play with the grovers all night . With these, i have to tune the bass maybe once during 4 sets . It would be cool to see someone make modern tuners with the look of the old grovers.

Strangely though, the old Grovers are among the smoothest I've used, and they hold a tune very well on both the basses that have them. I just like them a lot.
YMMV and all that.

Re: my newest addition
The Grovers on my '73 are very stable -- stay in tune. They're my favorite tuners. But maybe that's just because I've been using them so long.
