Mounting a Bigsby B5

Post by 1OUfan »

This may have been asked and answered before---if so, please steer me to the pertinent discussion.
I'm going to get a 325C58 and I'm sure that eventually I will want to ditch the Kauffman for a Bigsby B5. Does anyone have any tips or guidance for aligning and mounting correctly? As this is a "one-shot" proposition---I sure want to get it right the first time.
Also, is there anyone out there who perhaps may be in need of a Kauffman----better yet, have a Bigsby B-5 they'd trade for one?
Thanks----
Bob

Here ya go...

He uses a Tele to demonstrate, but it applies to any guitar. Just ignore the Telecaster-specific stuff.

One thing I know from experience is that it's important to drill the holes to a precise fit for the screws; holes too small and you can break off the screw head trying to tighten it down. Also important is to use the best quality stainless fasteners. Don't risk breaking a screw!

PaulW could tell you the exact size bit to use.

The guy in the video tells you what drill bit sizes you need.
If you buy the Bigsby in the kit version, all the mounting hardware is included, as well as the alignment string and detailed instructions. It's actually pretty idiot proof.
