Check out this paisley tele!

Post by octagon »

Wow! 1985 ATE `67 Tokai Paisley Telecaster, closest to a real one I have ever seen this one sold for $1425 on Ebay last week.

From the ad:

"Here`s a 1985 ATE `67 Tokai Paisley Telecaster in excellent condition. I`ve upgraded it with a set of Jake Jones Vintage Tele pickups (made to nail James Burton`s `52 Tele tone and next to impossible to find) plus the wiring has been changed to `52 specs ( a quick fix if it`s not to your taste) Other details include a bird`s eye maple neck, a Final Pro Spec bridge plate and the back plate # is L 25352.This instrument plays and sounds amazing and the only (minor) issue is three small check lines on the front of the body. I am also including a servicable case plus the original set of Tokai pickups. In addition to the shipping cost will be a $10 fee for professional packing to ensure maximum safety in transit. All in all, this is a great opportunity for any player who wants the most authentic looking, killer sounding paisley without a monster price tag! I welcome any and all questions so please feel free to e-mail me and good luck! "

I HATE paisley!

But, for those that like, it's pretty cool...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I was actually looking around for a Pink Paisley Tele awhile back. I think they're super cool, but I hate the maple necks. I'd probably swap out for a rosewood.

Those early Tokais are even closer to the vintage Fender items than the Japanese Paisley reissues (which are good as well, especially the mid 80's MIJ models). The final sale price of the Tokai confirms their quality.

The one in the picture looks like the real 60's ones. The amount of red in the paisley foil would have made me assume it was a real one from the small photo.

I sold my perfect pink paisley (90's vintage) MIJ Fender to a forumite, who seems to have vanished. I also had a pink paisley strat. For many reasons, it was my favorite Fender product I have owned.

There really is nothing that compares to playing a pink paisley guitar on stage for visual shock. It is best accessorized with pink fuzzy slippers.

I note that the Tokai has the post-lawsuit headstock, which I have always found just a little annoying.

It's a shame that Tokai didn't get to participate in the "Fender Japan" exercise (or the Orville/Epiphone Japan gig). They have made some fantastic clones.

No, thank you.

I believe that was the Halloween in which I was dressed as Patty or Selma Bouvier. At least my hair went with my blue Ricks.
