Making it match....

Post by ben_brown »

Hey Paul.....I am changing my stock surround with a "different" one...
However the replacement surround doesn't cover what the stock surround covered.
Can this be lightly sanded out and possibly buffed and polished so it looks somewhat unnoticable?

Nah, that's too new! It should go in a reliced older one like this 4001S with my spare RIHS and toaster pickups.

I could put my HS pickup in; I have been pondering doing that.

I'd hit it with some #1500, wet, very lightly, to get the line out, and then rub with some polishing compound, then follow with Scratch-X and Zymol.

It went to a good cause, I think, although I have yet to see the results!

Any of the 3M Perfect-It range...I've used Perfect-It II, Perfect-It III, and the newest Perfect It 3000, with good results. I prefer a hand-polishing compound; they work with less effort than a machine compound.
