Storage problem solved!

Post by ozover50 »

Sick of stepping over all those guitars in the spare room? Worried about the cat 'christening' them? :(

I was and I finally decided to do something about it a couple of months back!

Of course the Ricks have always been kept safely in the wardrobe:

Some lightweight modular chrome steel shelving solved the problem - for about $300:

Very strong, very stable and easily added to or reconfigured and the guitars are easy to pull out and put back.

Come to think of it, I may have to do some adding and reconfiguring......... it's chock-a-block already!!

My racks are pretty simple...each one is 16" wide X 8' long X 8' high, with two open racks apiece. Each took only seven 2 X 4s and about 25 feet of strong stranded steel wire (for tension cross-bracing), a couple of dozen nails and a few washers. They weigh in at less than 50 pounds each, cost around $20.00 apiece, and took about 15 minutes each to build.

Each holds an even 50 instruments in their cases; at 25 pounds per guitar, that's a bit over a half ton. Not as stylish as yours, Aitch, but quite functional!

Where are the rest of your guitars..............under the bed?   I know the answer already mate. That looks like a great solution. Paul's solution is a little more industrial sounding..............do you have pics Paul?

Industrial? More like "hillbilly". Never got pics, but when I do I'll post a few.

You could paint them in various Rick colors with a nice CV finish, then they'd be Rickabilly...

Personally, I WISHI had that kind of storage problem...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
