"Trisagion"
Re: "Trisagion"
I like the ones where she sounds more like Patti Smith and less like Madonna. Production is a little past its use-by-date but I like her notions. I wish I could sing that well.
Ahh, Little Earth may be the one you had in mind.

That was quick! I take it you picked up the CD somewhere? Yeah, it's definitely a product of 1985, particularly drum-wise, but the compositions are timeless as far as I'm concerned. This CD is STILL in my heavy-rotation. Over the years, I think every song on that CD has been my favorite at different times. 'Hello Earth' is an amazing song, and is a good example of what I was referring to earlier. I never saw the similarity to Patti Smith or Madonna. She's always sounded like Kate to me. (Madonna WISHES she had Kate's talent. HA!) I think Tori Amos sounds like she listened to a lot of Kate.
Re: "Trisagion"
Thanks, Mark, I'll take the compliment and look for some of her later work. I like the way she writes her songs. My personal bias in vocalists is to respond best to the more naive, untrained or brut voices in pop and rock. Sometimes it seems like at a certain level of proficiency singers tend to start sounding alike to me.
But there are some notable exceptions, indeed. I've got no bias against real mastery.
Patti's Dream Of Life is worth looking for if you can abide her. It's s more measured dose of a more mature Patti with a lot of great musical moments. A little dated as well, though.

Kira,
This song spoke to me on a number of levels and I am very sure you know what I am talking about. It is your very best to date in my mind. It's worthy of its name in my very humble opinion. I loved the movement that started around 3:46 or so. It is so captivating, heartfelt and uplifting............and so very well done.

I was very conscious about the use of the name and I accept your blessing as a mark of success for this song.

Kira, cool tune! I love the way it blends back and forth... I guess churches do inspire some good stuff. Thanks so much for sharing it.
Re: "Trisagion"
Cool, Tom. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks. Yeah, churches have some good music. They've been working on it for a long time. Actually they sort of invented notated music. Before the tenth century or so, they hadn't even started to write it down but after that we have a lot of old manuscripts of liturgical music.

2008 was a great year for songs by RickResource forum artists................this particular song has become one of my all time favourites. I just finished listening to it again. It has been a few weeks since I last listened to it. I was hoping to gain a fresh perspective. I am happy to report that it is simply magical. It transcends any attempt at description.
Kira you should be proud of your work this year. This one is the best of your the best, at least from my viewpoint.
I guess this confirms that I am your #1 fan.

Re: "Trisagion"
Thank you Brian,
This song is unusual in that it has remained in the SoundClick charts for more than five weeks when the others have dropped out after five to ten days. Just this week I noticed that its number rating resurges a little every Sunday
I wish I could return all the support and positivity you have given me for my music project. I think "friend" or "big brother" is a better description of your function here than "fan".
