a gamble...

Post by brycycle »

last week, i came across a CL listing for a '73 MG 4001 in the uS for a great price.

i contacted the seller who informed me he purchased it off of an "old timer" 5 years ago and as the current owner is a drummer, he's had it cased for pretty much all of that 5 years.

the seller doesn't have a digital camera, so i sent him images of a '73 with the desired features of that year and he confirmed that his looked exactly the same. as there were other interested parties, i gave the seller a call and we set the price and shipping details.

i know it was a gamble - let's hope it pays-off. updates to come later in the week when it arrives...

i've always had perfect luck buying from CL.

i'm usually sent photos which tell all, but there have been 2 other gambles in the past. on one occasion the photos are terrible (cell phone) - the other was a blind buy.

yes - but you helped me pick-up TWO rics basses for $2800 IIRC - one being a CS. i sold the other, an early 80's white 4001, for $1800...but yes, our "dear friend" was out there...

on that subject, how's that CS coming along?

If there was gold ore in a Scottish lake, would that then be 'loched and loded"? :)

I missed delivery before I headed West for the holidays - the mystery box is waiting at the post office - I'll pick it up Jan 3.
