New Searchers release

Post by royclough »

On May 17th there is a brand new Searchers release which is not just a re-hash of the hits etc.

It is The "BBC Sessions" 44 tracks, nothing we haven't heard before but will feature interviews with band members and as title suggests will be recordings made on various BBC radio shows. I am sure Tim Viney can give us more detials but if not and anyone wants a track listing contact me.

Wham bam!
Great news! There's been several "BBC Sessions" releases by other artists before (notable Beatles). If the Searchers' BBC CD is in the same field, we should have some excitement ahead! -When you say (Roy), we'll have nothing not heard before, is that entirely true? No songs not heard before, perhaps, but some of these performances must be published on record for the first time?! Parts of this material was used on the "30th anniversary", right? But 44 tracks- this must be the greatest Searchers event since the Star Club sessions (on CD)!

Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!

And Roy,
a track list should be general hot stuff, so me, for one, am interested!

The excitement for me, not withstanding the release of the BBC tracks which we have heard before, is the interviews!
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Actually Ready Teddy never appeared anywhere so one new track I suppose, but as Einar says we can listen to the tracks from a different perspective

So according to the list there are 4 Chris Curtis interviews. Does this mean we get all including the one done last year on BBC with Spencer again. If so will it be released world wide? I WANT ONE!!!!!

Just looked at it again (still waking up not 8 am yet here) obviously the interview is in segments. Still hope it includes the last one. Any body sure of what it contains?

Will this release be available through Amazon.com (USA) or the regular major outlets in the States? If not, how will we be able to purchase a copy?

Thanks for further information on this coming event! I see it's all post-Jackson stuff. That's ok, a little surprising though. I would have guessed that the Searchers were hotter stuff for radio during their absolute heydays (=with Jackson). Maybe there's more in the hiding?
I've seen the cd pre-adverticed by Amazon-uk, so it shouldn't be hard to find!

Is this real live-in-studio takes, or does sound cosmetics treatment occur?

Rick

If you have a problem getting it let me know I can get it for £9.99 over here so cost to you would just be the additional postage to states.

Roy,

Thank you for your kind offer. I will keep checking at my local outlets here in Florida and keep you and all posted.

On a second note, when I inquired about the CD in question at my local store, Borders Music, they had no information yet but did indicate that a new release would be available on May 17th
in titled "The Definative Pye Collection". I see it has already been released in the UK, Amazon (UK) on February 23rd. I put an order on this one, even though I'm relativley positive I have all of the cuts on previous releases. But the excitment of a new Searchers CD is always great.
