Bring one by, I've got a Peterbilt 379 with a 48 ft drop deck that I can't afford to run anymore. At least it'd be fun for a couple of minutes!antipodean wrote:When I saw the topic, I thought I was going to see a relic Strat being run over by a sixteen-wheeler... I'm kind of disappointed

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

"Convincingly distressed"
HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!... what *******. Maybe I could start a business.... you send me your guitar, I bash it up, I bill you for the abuse, you go out and pretend to be something that you're not. It's like those bluejeans with holes in them that people pay more for.... insane.NOTE: In my guitar abuse company, actual structural damage will be extra. I would charge a fortune for these babys.

Please, don't us that you're buying into his politics!jingle_jangle wrote:How 'bout that Blagojevich, huh?
As far as the Fender "Road Worn" and/or any other similar guitar, I prefer that the dings and dents be a result of my own actions.

Re: Fender "Road Worn" guitars for 2009
In all honesty, all the bashing Fender gets for making these guitars is somewhat undeserved. Fender and their designers are not a bunch of idiots. They are in business, like every other business out there, to make money. If there wasn't a demand for these ridiculous abominations, Fender would stop making them so fast you wouldn't remember them long enough for jokes.
But the truth is, SOMEONE out these wants these things, Fender makes 'em 'cause people buy 'em. Why, I'll never know. If anybody deserves any grief over these things, it's the people buying them, not those who are filling that demand.

Feel free to heap your scorn on me then. I like them. I like relics. YMMV.
Re: Fender "Road Worn" guitars for 2009
That line "they will not break the bank", does that mean they are Mexican made?
If so, I may actually buy one. I like the 50's and 60's type Pbasses made in Mexico

So, what is the price differential from a MIM to a BN?kenposurf wrote:I believe these are MIM..if you favor one I will also once again suggest one of Bill Nash's guitars when your ready for a step up....marc61 wrote:That line "they will not break the bank", does that mean they are Mexican made?

Relic...it's a damn shame is all I can say. The Fender Custom Shop don't need to charge $2.5k+ for a beat up guitar. I'll echo your statement, Paul G, that if we wanted beat up guitars, we could do it ourselves!
Re: Fender "Road Worn" guitars for 2009
Ah now stop the bashing, after all I thought that never happens on this site, I personally appreciate vintage instruments, but owning some Fenders myself take care of my axes, dont beat them up and my older Fenders are still in near mint conditions, If Fender thinks there is a market for these instruments, well more power to them, I wish them much success, I wont be looking or purchaseing one of them, I would get another American standard instead, I have to say that thought there will be people lineing up for them just like there were people line up to buy a 75 anniversay Ric I wont be one of them, I bought a 2006 Ric 4003 (midblu) in 06 and though why buy a anniversary Ric, other than finish and gold plastic, there is nothing special about the anni 4003 that makes it sound or play better than my non anni 2006 4003, they both are made of the same wood, both have the same hardware, both have the same electronics and pick ups, and both come with the same plain standard case, in essence, to me any Ric made in 2006 is a anniversary Ric, only difference is I paid $800.00 less for my 4003 than what the same bass that was being sold as the anniversary bass, this to me was a joke and made me laugh, and the biggest joke of all was seeing how fast they were going up on ebay as fast as the people who ordered them were recieveing them, that to me was a big joke, farce and fruad the those people turned that into, all had the same excuse, I need the money, the money was the whole rason they ordered them to turn a qwick profit, had no intention on keeping those instruments, thats how dedicated they were to Ric instruments, come those people were so fake they were transparent, But yet they will bash Fender, get a life.

Ya gotta love the anti-establishment, anti-authoritarian generation becoming the most controlling, vain, pill-popping, and consumption-orientated generation of all.
Re: Fender "Road Worn" guitars for 2009
but thats the point, they are NOT "vintage". But the point is well taken... the scorn should be on the wannabees who buy these things, not on Fender.
I guess when you're a company who has a history of making ****** guitars you'll try anything. OOps, did I say "******"? I have a Tele Thinline and it's not
******.... maybe "overrated" is a better word to use.
at Brammy's Break-Em-Up, the that LP goes for $5,300. Git 'em while they last.
