OK ! So i was bored......

Post by thinneckrick »

I was just sitting here one day staring across the room at my 08 Jet , When i got an epiffany !!! This thing would look outstanding blacked out . So , I got on the phone To Tony at pickguardian and had him send me a black guard and pointer knobs. Then , to Mikey At the rick page and got a toaster . Then to ACE hardware and got some black spray paint .I spray painted the TRC and scraped of the lettering with a razor blade . It turned out KILLER . The full width inlays on it really set it off . Anyway let me know what you all think of the 08 rick rebirth.

Nice work, Jeffery! :D Now you need to move the toaster to the 1/2" position. :!:

+1, Chris at Potr has some cool black powder coated toaster covers
that would add to the black out.

Actually, Jaymi, standard position is (roughly) 1" and the "classic" position is 1/2".

Here's another idea. Consider carefully sanding the edges of the TRC to expose the white plastic. This will "mirror" the white body binding. You could also carefully paint the edges of the pickguard with white acrylic model paint. I did this to a Jetglo a few years ago:

That doesn't look like the vintage position!

Here is a 1/2" position hi-gain (since replaced with scatterwound toaster) on one of my basses:

Yep, that is the other PG I got from Pickguardian, so I can go between classic white and modern inlay match! :D
