John Fogerty 325?
There is a listing on ebay right now for what is purported to be a 'John Fogerty' model 325, and the seller is claiming that only 18 of this model was produced. This guitar looks to me to be a 1996 AFG, and I know for dead certain that far more that 18 of this model were produced. I acquired one a few months ago which was manufactured in Aug 2008, and it was one of at least ten which had been ordered by Gary of from North Coast Music. I know that the 1996 AFG was available for order only during 2006, but with RIC's backorder situation, it is not surprising to see them ship well into 2008. In fact, there may remain more orders pending which will ship in 2009. In any event, at this moment RIC's website is down so I cannot check with them. Does anyone know if they ever released a signature JF model 325? The ebay listing even states that the item includes a DVD ....don't know if this includes video or audio, of John Fogerty. Maybe much ado about nothing, but it is annoying to see someone make a claim like this. I am not aware of ANY signature model which RIC has produced in a quantity as low as 18.
Re: John Fogerty 325?
It is more than likely a 1996...there was never a Fogerty 325
Re: John Fogerty 325?
Well, it comes with the Fogerty Concert DVD!
Seriously, this looks like a normal 1996RI, nothing else (not to say it's not a nice guitar--it looks very good in the pics).
I'm not an expert on Fogerty, but his Ric was pretty modified--Bigsby, HB in the bridge, etc.. And I don't believe it was a Rose Morris model.
I'm sure someone here probably knows more....

Re: John Fogerty 325?
Hi all:
I'm the seller of the 325 Model 1996 and I never claimed it to be a John Fogerty Signature Model as none exist. I merely referred to it as the John Fogerty Model in the title.
The listing clearly stated it as a Model 1996 and gave the spec's on it.
The DVD is just an added bonus of CCR/Fogerty in 1969 playing his Model 1996 (that has a Humbucker in the bridge position).
I reference that only eighteen of the 2006's shipped within the USA and I believe this to be true and intend no disecption as the OP is trying to imply.
It is a rare Reissue that is in for all practical purposes in near mint (like new) condition.
Sorry that some have chose to take exception to me offering it at what I believe to be a rather fair price.
Sincerely,
Jim Mead

Re: John Fogerty 325?
I have been in touch with the seller, and frankly I think he is splitting hairs. He now claims that it is not a JF 'signature series' but simply a model that Fogerty played at one time....albeit it with a number of modifications. He also claims that the 'total of 18 produced' only means that 18 were produced in 2006. This might well be true as RIC just introduced the model that year, and I expect that they would have liked to ship at least a few of them in a reasonable period of time. It is interesting to look at the serial number for this guitar as pictured on the ebay listing. After accounting for the year of production (06) and the week of production (06), this has simply the number 1. Could this be the first 1996 produced?

Re: John Fogerty 325?
Ooops. I failed to notice in the item description that the last two digits of the serial number were 'airbrushed' out. Not trying to cause a ruckus with this seller, and actually I hope he does well with it. It's just that on my first reading of the item description I found it to be someone disengenuous. Maybe it is technically correct. It really does not matter.........it will likely sell, and maybe even what what the seller wants.

Terry:
Sorry, but I believe it's you that is rushing to judgement and is the one splitting hairs...
Again, you have failed to look or read the description or you would have noticed that I airbrushed out part of the serial number for privacy reasons, for both myself and the prospective new owner.
The last 325 Model 1996 Reissue sold on eBay for more than my opening bid and may or may not have been as clean as mine.
I will let the facts speak for themselves.
Respectfully,
Jim Mead

Re: John Fogerty 325?
Terry, doubtful, although I *think* it's probably an early production 06 model. The Ric guys here will know for sure, but there were 2-3 (I think) that were produced for the NAMM show the previous year, which would have been the first ones produced.
I'm not exactly sure how to translate Ric SNs, but there's one in the Ric Registry (linked upper right corner of this page) with an SN of 060xxxx, and it's manufacture date is listed as Jan '06. Mine is a 062xxxx SN and was built in May '06, if that helps.
Not sure Ric has published their production of the 1996RI, but I'd think it's fair to say there are/will be a lot more than 18 produced when all is said and done.

Re: John Fogerty 325?
Just to appease everyone, I removed John Fogerty from the title eventhough there was no intent to mislead, rather to attract people to the listing where they could then read the description which accurately described it....

And just how would you know this statistic?big jim's guitars wrote:I reference that only eighteen of the 2006's shipped within the USA and I believe this to be true and intend no disecption as the OP is trying to imply.
We've not published this information and there's exactly one person who could come up with the correct number if we chose to.

The above is one reference point....
So John, how many did ship to the USA? Tell me and I will gladly report it in the listing.

And a second one would be?big jim's guitars wrote:The above is one reference point....
Jim, I don't know if I would call an quasi-anonymous listing on eBay a credible source, but then again I suppose it could be. You wouldn't happen to have an "Edge" model 330 12-string for sale, would you

Re: John Fogerty 325?
You're wasting your time, RIC doesn't release production #s unless it's a special series. Honestly, these 1996s aren't exceptionally rare right now, there are few for sale other places on the internet. I've got no problem with the price, but good luck selling it in this economy.big jim's guitars wrote:So John, how many did ship to the USA? Tell me and I will gladly report it in the listing.

Jim: Thank you for trying to set the record straight on the this Model 1996, Reissue. I appreciate the clarification and it will be clearer for interested buyers with your correction.

Re: John Fogerty 325?
Yes, using information from another listing may be foolish on my part...however, it is still a rare limited edition reissue with most going abroad and not too many staying stateside. Mine is a very early one and I don't know if that is better or whatever, but I do know it's clean, setup and ready to go. Sorry, but I'm not seeing too many AFG's Model 1996's in the states right now...seeing them in the UK at about 2800.00 british pounds or about $4100.00 USD.
