In that case I'll bring Loes:)
Coming back to the 3000. The first bass player of the Arctic Monkeys played a 3000 too and that's the second reason they're expensive in the UK.

Here he is: Andy Nicholson, formerly of the Arctic Monkeys:

Really great thread, guys! Thanks for bringing this model to my attention. I love the styling; as of now I'm placing it near the top of my must-try-or-buy list.
The styling reminds me a little bit of my old Gibson Ripper bass from the same era, that is, if the Ripper had been more beautifully designed.

The neck on my Ripper was indeed a bit of a chore, but I was young and strong and didn't notice it as much as I would these days. Homely as a dog's you-know-what, about the only thing it had was a terrific sound.
MUST check out a 3000!

It is a total different beast than the Gibson Ripper/Grabber/G3 family. Those have quite thin but huge bodies! A R/G/G3 is almost as big as an ES-22g/EB2, while the 3000 is quite a small instrument.
Some Gibsons of that series are all maple though, like the 3000.

Re: Model of the Week Eight: The 3000 and 3001
As this thread may be winding up soon, I wanted to provide a sneak preview of a RIC model bass that evolved from the 3001. Do you notice the resemblance?
Paul assured me that we will get to this one in due course.

I like the 2000 series too, but We'll get to that later, I guess...
I believe there's a 3000/1 prototype pic in the famous Japanese book?

My mistake:
The bass of the Arctic Monkeys guy has a skunk stripe, so it's a 3001! I'll post a pic of a Dutch bass forum here soon. Apparently the new AM-bass player used the 3001 for a while too.

I'd like to hear one sometime. The pickup looks like its in a great spot, a little forward from the treble pickup on a 4001/3.
Nice toes BTW, Chris!
