Not such an amazing deal. It's a refin.

While I love refin guitars (because I PLAY them!), they seriously affect the value, especially in Fender-land.

Plus it has non-original case, and the refin was over the headstock too. Refin Jags on Ebay regulary go for around $1800, often cheaper (and sometimes original sunbursts at that price too!)

I prefer Jazzmasters. And see-through fiesta red? Doesn't sound too good looking to me.

Right on Collin! My '64 Jag is a refin, which is why it's worth zip. The fatally back-bowed neck doesn't help, of course....

The headstock refin is apparently "accurate" (though the colour may not be). A refin guru told me that pretty much all non-sunburst Jags had matching headstocks out of the factory.....

Just be careful that it is not a "Service Man's" knockoff, like this one now on Ebay..

http://cgi.ebay.com/1960s-Service-Mans- ... 1|294%3A50

"Up for auction we have a 1960's Philippine built Fender Jaguar Copy in Original Blue Finish. This is a rare find. These guitars were hand made in the Philippines during the Vietnam war and sold to soldiers over there. These guitars are constructed from lower end woods and parts. The finish is very accurate and the guitar looks authentic from a couple of feet away. The guitar plays very well and sounds good too. The neck is constructed from a laminate. Crazy 60's guitar that is a great conversation piece and a pretty great guitar too. Comes with a gig bag. "

I believe that I have a black one now in my collection. : (

Agreed, refin's push the value down a lot but I will take as many at $635? as you can send me :D The stock of vintage Jags out there is huge and even though their price is a small percentage of what a Strat from the same era would go for I think it's inflated.

Yeah, crazy Darren! :)

I'm still waiting to hear the story on that one...I watch the Jag auctions weekly, and never saw anything that cheap go down. Nice score!
