It was actually Dennis Munday that took the photo.
Dennis was an original 60's mod, he was the head of A&R at polydor at the time, also he'd managed The Chords. He recently wrote a book called 'Shout to The Top' about his career and Weller. The first edition was awful because the pulishers never proof read it and left in all the typos, but it's just been updated and is a cool read.

I'm still in touch with Dennis, he lives in Italy now.

I had those, but smooth leather tops. Then I went to nothing but Docs for a while, boots and shoes. I still have a pair of 14 hole Oxbloods that I bought in London in 86.

Like many of these things, the general quality was poor, and the heels used to wear down really quickly. (or maybe they did on mine 'cos I never took them off)
I ended up walking round like a penguin with the toes pointing up 45 degrees..

In the late 70's my mum went to London, and I remember asking her to bring me back a pair of Jam shoes from Carnaby Street.
She did go to Carnaby Street for me but unfortunately she went to a shop called Milandis, who did probably the worst quality mod stuff going, and brought me back a pair of BRIGHT BLUE and white Jam shoes. If the colour wasn't bad enough, they also had a two and a half inch heel as well! :o
I never had the heart to say anything to her, but she was always asking me why I never wore them.

We should have a MOD section to ourselves, for recollections and to compare notes.

Who do we speak to?

Mark would make a cool moderator. :D

I'm not the one who can just whip out a snap of himself with Mr Paul Weller!

Yeah, but it's the other thing you can just whip out that will impress everyone. (so Scotty tells me)

That's a great tune by the Fortune Tellers Rob. They have a very cool 60's vibe going on. :D
