360 kept in room with fireplace

Post by lyric_girl »

I am looking for a house and found one that will fit the bill. The current owner is a player and he keeps his guitars in a room that has a gas fireplace. I have already posed this question to the acoustic players that I know, do I need to be worried for my 360 if I keep it in a room with a fireplace. I doubt we will use the fireplace much, but given that the 360 is a semi acoustic, I thought I should ask.

Many thanks,

Lynda

If you're concerned about dryness, keep humidifiers in your cases with the guitars. Inexpensive humidifiers can be gotten from cigar stores.

I do keep humidifiers in my acoustic cases. I guess I will with my 360 when it gets here.

Thanks.

Hi Lynda, my 360 is on a bench in its case 12 feet from a gas firepace. Its not the heat that is the culprit its the humidity. I have agage for humidity and it stays at 48 all winter.I,m in the basement.Summer i need a dehumidifier.Donf forget if you,re comortable, odds are so will be your toys.

Decided not to use the room with fireplace for the guitars. Also found out it's a real fireplace not the gas type which is quite nice.

I currently use a hygrometer which will go on the wall of the new room.

Thanks guys.
