Hmm. No new shipments today, though. Hope that shipment on Monday was just a clearing of the throat for what is to come!

Yeah, they're old enough now!jps wrote:The kids can fend for themselves!ajish4 wrote:OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!
I'll have both my kids in college next year and I'm very lucky that I shipped them to Mike Parks.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: Here come the Cheyennes!!!
Tony I feel your pain.. I hve two there as well and a third there in a couple of years... I'm hoping they can get good jobs and keep me in a life style to which I wish to become accustomed. Things like new Ric's every so often, dark beer, scuba diving trips, sushi....

LoL, good point Tom!ram wrote:Tony I feel your pain.. I hve two there as well and a third there in a couple of years... I'm hoping they can get good jobs and keep me in a life style to which I wish to become accustomed. Things like new Ric's every so often, dark beer, scuba diving trips, sushi....
Oh, a THIRD? That would bury me!
I'm lucky in that regard...one Pre-med, one going Pre-Law.
A match made in heaven! They can refer patients/clients to each other all day long!
Only I'll take a new Ric, LIGHT beer, and a few dinners out would be nice!, I'm not the active type!
Sounds good in theory, doesn't it?

Re: Here come the Cheyennes!!!
A number of new shipments listed today on the website. I did check with my dealer and he confirmed that I am next on the list, but he hasn't seen the bass yet (as I figured since NC is about as far away as one can get) and hasn't gotten an invoice, so he can't guarantee anything yet.
What's interesting about the shipping page is that a couple of 4004s showed up right next to the ones from Tuesday, but they weren't there until now. It's possible I'm misreading the page (line and not column?).
I hope to hear something definitive soon.

Wow,
They sure did ship a bunch of 'em!
All different colors too!
Man, this is getting down to the wire now!
Ryan, I have NO IDEA how to read that recently shipped page.
If I see something that I ordered going to my dealer, I just call and ask.......I hope Mike gets a few of 'em!

No, nothing to North Coast Music yet. I think they're toying with my emotions.
Tony, once you get to the "recently shipped" page for a certain model, click on the vendor's name and it will tell you which models were recently shipped to them. Once they have been clicked, the font for the vendor goes to a standard weight (as opposed to bold type). When you revisit the page, any additions will appear in bold, the ones you've already looked at will remain in light-weight type. By the way, the "back" button on each vendor's list page doesn't work, and you have to close that window and reclick the recently shipped line to get the full list of vendors again.
Lot of Trans Red, Trans Green, Mapleglo, and a Fireglo this week. No Bluebursts.

Me too. As much as I want the wait to be over, I'd feel kind of bad if I got one and everybody else had to wait a while longer.ajish4 wrote:I hope Mike gets a few of 'em!
Re: Here come the Cheyennes!!!
The Rickenbacker Page and Classic Axe each got a BBR. The Rickenbacker Page also got an AFG. A good number of MGs shipped. I'd like to see some pictures of those, and the TG that went to Dave's Guitars.bassduke49 wrote: Lot of Trans Red, Trans Green, Mapleglo, and a Fireglo this week. No Bluebursts.
Re: Here come the Cheyennes!!!
I was wondering the same thing Joey, cant wait to get mine back from Chis Clayton, haveing mine modded to my likeing, I am haveing stacked knobs installed so now each pick up will have its own vol & tone control, Chris not only reshearched and found the right pods (500) mz Ithink its mz, not sure I just play them and not work on them lol, but found the knobs in gold, that was the one thing about the bass I didnt like, one vol & one tone for both pick ups, second thing that bothered me was the nut sat up too high and couldnt get the action at an acceptable hieght for my likeing, so looking forward to getting her back when she is done, I belive she will be the ultimate bass now.rickenbrother wrote:I wonder if there are any Cii's being shipped that are for dealer stock.

Re: Here come the Cheyennes!!!
Hello, and sorry to barge in...
See, I'm a "newbie" both to the forum here and well, Ric in general.
As I've been gushing about, I kinda stumbled into buying a MG Laredo just this week; while contemplating a 4003 to add to my aresenal.
I had no clue whatsoever that Rickenbacker basses were as supreme as they are, but I sure do now. Gimme my Kool-Ade!
I understand the allure of the Cii- If my "standard" Laredo looks like it does- Then....OMG.
I understand this thread.
My ? Is the scarcity of the Cii production due to what?? The factory limitations, the Consumer demand, other?
Apparently you won't find these hanging on the wall of "Mom & Pop" Music store, and if I understand correctly the wait can be long long time.
After being absolutely blown away with the tone/build of my 4004L, I saw by surfing that there are not tons of them around, same as 4003's but they were around. Surfing for interests sake, I saw NO Cheyennes.
Apparently Ric can/will sell them as quick as they're built, so is it just a matter of production capability and runs??
The instruments must be absolutely stunning to behold-
Damn! Now I want!
But...I'll get by!

Hi Larry,
You're not barging in at all! C'mon in, the water's fine!
Ah, the question you posed has been discussed here many times.
Many feel it is the lack of some famous person using the bass, many only want the traditional 4001/4003 Rickenbacker sound. Others are just not willing to take a chance on one without being able to try one out.
Congratulations on your new love.
Many of us await the phone call telling us our new 4004's have been delivered. The wait time has been years for many of us. But, I believe once it is in my hands, the wait will be the furthest thing from my mind...
C'mon Rickenstork, bring my baby home!

Re: Here come the Cheyennes!!!
Larry, it is more a case of numbers. There is no way of telling, but I'd guess there are probably 100 or 200 4003 basses out there for every 4004. The 4004 design debuted in 1992-3 and was marketed with full-page magazine ads as an "evolution" of the famous Rickenbacker bass. The first was the 4004C Cheyenne (what we now call the "Cheyenne I") and the Laredo. Originally, the Laredo was offered only in Jetglo. Both had maple fretboards. Around 1999-2000, the Cheyenne was modified, first with a figured maple top over the previous walnut body wings, then modified again with maple/walnut/maple sandwich body wings. This is offically designated the 4004Cii (the ii meaning "bis" -- "the next" or "the second"), or Cheyenne II. Since the first changeover, both the Cheyenne and Laredo have been fitted with bubinga fretboards, some with glossy finish, some with a clear matte sealer (or is it unfinished?). The positions of the pickups were "lowered" from 2000 to around 2006, then brought back to the original position. There's a long story about that which you can dig up hereabouts.
Also, the Cheyenne II offers three exclusive colors: Translucent Red, Translucent Green, and Translucent Blue. But Cheyennes are also found in the standard colors, and some even in the "Color of the Year" hues -- like my forthcoming Blueburst (2005) Cii, which will look something like this:
