Question Re: Bridge P/u covers

Post by Zentner »

Hey guys,

Just curious which style of bridge pickup cover is correct to a '68 4001 (hi gain bidge p/u of course)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0329623553

Or the top one here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rickenbacker-4001-B ... 240%3A1318

Or... something completely different? I bought the first one for my '75 4001, but the '68 is still cover-less.

Thanks!

The vintage ones have short sides because they mount above the springs, just under the surround. The newer ones have longer sides and mount below the springs. They move with the pickup. A '68 would have had the short side type - like the one in your second link.

The top one in the second auction is the correct cover, just adding reinforcement to Ted's comment. :)
