Post 381; 381 in quilt maple

Here is the prettiest guitar in my collection; it's the one that gets lots of "oooohs and ahhhhs" every time I bring it out, even from people who aren't into guitars. Pictures really don't do it justice, as it seems to shimmer and shift as the guitar is tilted in the light.

In the close-up you can see the fabulous grain in the wood that parallells the strings, and almost looks like a shadow of them vibrating.

I think RIC really does a fabulous job in selecting the wood for this model; I have seen many beautiful photos of 381's.... Does anyone else have any pics to share?

Yes, this guitar is so nice that I am going to go play it now.... One thing I forgot to mention is that the fingerboard also has a lot of figuring in it, and it matches the texture of the guitar's body very well.... It is such a pretty thing, and it still has that delicious Ric-o-roma of a new Ricky.... My husband bought this one for me last summer from eBay....he saw a photo of the "string shadow" wood grain, and found it to be irresistably beautiful! I thought he was crazy at the time, but now I don't regret this purchase at all! Image

Wonderful photo, that resembles a painting. Very nice work in selecting the background Melissa. The wood grain is stunning.

Jeffrey, as a matter of fact, I took it out to practice last night....it doesn't get out as often as it probably should, simply because it is a little heavier than some of my others. Lately I've been using my model 1997 and my 325 quite a bit. I will admit that this one is heartbreakingly beautiful. A few weeks back I had our local luthier go through my entire collection, and the only one that he was visibly impressed with was that one....

....I don't think I've ever seen that kind of quilting on a 360 before. I'm sure that one is as much of a treat to the ears as it is to the eyes!
