'09 musical pursuit --- get more up close and personal with my Yamaha P-200 electronic piano. It's been getting less and less time since I bought it nine years ago. Time to renew my commitment to playing keyboards more. Late.....Goofyfoot.

Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

Time for a new piano, that one is an antique by now.

Not really, Jeffrey. As I understand it, the Yamaha P-200 is the platform from which the P-250 and CP-300 were born. It remains an awesome concert stage electronic piano with 88 weighted keys. It has just enough bells and whistles, including MIDI interface. I've been playing it these past nine years but I need to invest even more time practicing and playing it. Regards.....Goofyfoot.

That's how I am regarding those 6 string geeeeeeetars vs. the time on spend on playing bass. I could be a truly awesome (note the modesty here) guitard if I worked at it.goofyfoot wrote:I've been playing it these past nine years but I need to invest even more time practicing and playing it. I should be getting a Rickenbacker this year which is a big thing happening for me. I'm gonna look for some vintage analog recording gear this year, get a few good microphones. I'd like to get a few brass instruments and I'd especially love to get my hands on a mellotron but that probably won't happen for a few years. Besides that this year should be all about writing more music and putting together a list of songs for one strong album which will be my first. I'm planning on getting it pressed onto cds and vinyl (hopefully) and giving them away and also giving it away online. I'm more interested in spreading my music then selling it, for now anyway.
If anyone knows the easiest, quickest, cheapest way to get your songs/records copyrighted and wouldn't mind PMing me, please do so. I'm clueless. I want my music to be free but I don't want anyone else taking credit for writing it.

Here's the easiest way to get your songs copyrighted.... http://www.copyright.gov/ Click on the link to the Electronic Copyright Office, and it will give you all of the forms to fill out and submit online, and you can either submit your lyrics and recordings online, or you can opt to send a hard copy via the post office--they give you the address to send in your materials. That's how I copyrighted my songs. However, the process is very, very slow. I sent in my first batch of songs to be copyrighted in July and did not get my official certificate of copyright until November. I believe you can send up to ten songs as a folio, for a fee of $35, which will copyright all of the songs within that folio.

You are a legend in my book, brah. But yeah, I hear what you're saying, man. Funny thing is this P-200 is right there as plain as day in my living room. I mean, I walk by it beaucoup times a day. Wazzap with that, G-foot. Stop, sit, and play that puppy! Keep on keepin' on.....Goofyfoot.jps wrote:That's how I am regarding those 6 string geeeeeeetars vs. the time on spend on playing bass. Welcome to the forum! There is a computer program called M-Tron that is 99 bucks. Very good, and a lot less expensive and pain in the butt than an actual Mellotron. Also, the B4 program simulates a Hammond B3 better than anything I've ever heard and is a thousandth of the weight-haha.
Real horns are good though.

My musical new years resolution is to keep making home recordings using SONAR.... just to be more diligent at it. The fact that they sound like utter **** (for the most part) has never stopped me before and it wont stop me now.

haha- Dueling Organs? Definitely!
I'm working on it Wes, for sure. It's a strange instrument to get used to, but very user-friendly, and surprisingly useable in a band etc...
As soon as I get one solid tune together, a video will surface!

Take a recorded copy of them, seal it in an envelope, and mail it to yourself, complete with post date. Then, don't open it - let the judge do that when you have to defend it. All it costs is the price of postage.Ric-O-nfused wrote: If anyone knows the easiest, quickest, cheapest way to get your songs/records copyrighted and wouldn't mind PMing me, please do so. Not saying it's the best method, but it has stood up in court before.

1). I plan to re-learn drums (my first instrument). Since I'm basically recording the next Shamus Twins' CD alone except drums, once I get proficient I will not neeed anyone else!
2). Get the band in shape. Too much time off, concentrating on recording.
3). Thinking of joining another band, just as a player, probably bass, and as a backup singer. Let someone else worry about gigs.
4). Start buying guitars again (been on a shopping hiatus).

Something else I've been thinking of doing is going back into the studio myself. I haven't done a CD in ten (yup, counte 'em 10) years. I know not to say "never" but I think this one will probably be the last recording featuring entirely acoustic instruments.
