Keep music loud!

Post by fireglo67 »

The British government, in it's infinate wisdom, wish to consider it a legal requirement to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue.
The level at which these noise limiting devices cut the music is ridiculously low.
The government assumes that you're not able to consider walking out of a venue if you think its too loud - they wish to make your mind up for you before you get there.
Also, many venues such as village and church halls, will struggle to be able to afford to buy and install the new equipment. Therefore many artists and small bands (such as mine) could find it hard to find anywhere local to play/practice.

OK, first I'll admit that I've been preoccupied with other pursuits than R'n'R since about the mid 1970s <insert audible gasp here>. So who's this badly dressed dude who's in need of some sorely needed sartorial advice? Eegad....those plaids have got to go!

That's Johnny Rotten, Jim, and the plaids were quite the anti-fashion statement in 1978. Check out this Sex Pistols video:

Interesting. I know of a small club here in Melbourne that has one of those doodads installed. It's in a residential area so it may have been installed as a result of local council directives following complaints. Or perhaps our Environmental Protection Authority, which has the power to do these things also. I suppose it could also be a condition of licence.

Next time I'm down there I'll ask them. They have Sunday blues jams, so it could serve a dual purpose!

You need to change your name to 'Bombarding email computer crash dude!'

I haven't listened to any of the 14 tracks out of spite.

Though I will later this week when I get new speakers for my PC. :)
