Cheyenne vs Laredo

Post by marc61 »

I'm thinking of ordering one or the other. What are the differences?

My opinion is that we need to have an intervention for Marc. Image One day soon, he is going to wake up in a room full of cases, basses strewn hither and yon, and look up with a glazed eye and say, "I bought all of these, didn't I?"
Just kidding Marc, wish I could act on my G.A.D. as well as you do. Image

Forgive me, I just found out that Marc only has 2. I was under the impression that he had severe G.A.D., when in fact, it is just starting. So the intervention is a ways off! Image

Well, isn't part of the intervention selling off the overstock to forum members cheap?

Actually, I had a closet full of"others" and have been selling them off to get back to Rics and p-basses. the only ones I like.

So right now, I'm thinking of ordering a Cheyenne in blue boy(a color not for everyone but is for me) and getting a project ready so that when Lollar comes out with his horseshoe, I have something to put it in.

I think if I were to order/buy a Ric in either blue boy or montezuma brown I would prefer it in a model with gold trim which pretty well limits it to the Cheyenne. Good choice for that color.

Yeah, Mike Parks has one coming in. Does anyone know how much he discounts off list?

The sad thing with RICS are that some models are in such a demand that 'discounting' is a fleeting term. (Ask about my quilted top 4004Cii) Image

Mike Parks isn't the cheapest-BUT he has a lot of goodies that others don't have. He is competitive and he's a great guy to work with.

To get back to Marc's original question. The only differences are that the CII has gold hardware and the Laredo chrome and that the most figured wood grains become natural or translucent CII. Although, now that Ric offers the translucent colors on Laredos they may receive comparable wood grain.

Hey Jared, got any photos of the quilted-top Cii? Or is that the one that was on ebay last September? I can't remember which of "us" bought that one. A quilted Cii is on my shopping list.

Paul-

Alas, I was lamenting my inability to procure one of them thar 4004Cii's. My understanding is that there aren't any quilted tops being produced-only flame.

Jared, Northwest offers the Cii at $1299. They claim it doesn't come in Blue Boy. I told them that it's listed on the Ric website and about Mike Parks incoming order. I don't really care when I get it, but would like to save some money.
