Modded 330/12 (V64?)

Peter's 350 inspired me to post some pics of my modified 330/12. The guitar has been changed to the tune of

Vintage:

knobs
tuners
tailpiece
nameplate
strap buttons
pickups (unwound to 7.0 and 7.7)
case

I also disassembled the guitar completely and machine-buffed the finish. And added the vintage-style parts to the bridge after relocating the plate 1/8 rearward. And all screws were changed to '60s-correct slot-head.

Kind of a 330/12V64 (yeah, I know there weren't any 330/12s made in '64, especially with a 24-fret neck. But whatever. )

I has a great look. By the way, did you dowel the holes and re-drill for vintage keywinds or was it unnecessary in replacing the Schaller minis.

I actually had to open up a hole or two the slightest bit. I used a reamer attached to my variable-speed drill. I used the same drill for the tuner screw holes. I put painter's tape on the headstock, mock-mounted the tuners, marked my holes, and then poked a small hole in the painter's tape. Kept the drill bit from wandering.

Modern twelve string guitars get the Schaller M6i Mini A keys due to the keys being limited in width to the thickness of the head. These are more similar in diameter to vintage type keys although the have a stepped hole to allow for the internal thread bushing receiver.

Modern six stringers get the full sized Schaller M6i key which would require dowelling to go vintage.
