4003 tone control issue

Post by albass »

Hi, I recently bought a 2003 4003, it works perfectly except that with the pickups both running, the tone control on both treble and bass pickups seems to affect both of them at the same time, ie I don't have seperate control over each pickup with tone, just both at the same time (like a jazz). This must be an issue with the wiring, so any ideas?

Thanks, Alex

Welcome Alex!
The tone issue is normal, that is the nature of passive controls.
You will find however for example if you drop the volume of the treble pickup just a little (say to 8 or so) and then reduce the treble tone there is far less treble cut. So you have some control if you also mess with the volumes a bit.
Also the tone and volumes for each pickup become fully independant if you use the rick-o-sound jack with a stereo lead into seperate amps...
Have fun with the 4003!
