Let's see . . . if there is overlap of this "new product" with the 4001C64 and 325C58, what about a short-scale one-pickup bass with a design based on a late 50's 4000?cjj wrote:Not yet, apparently.
John Hall hinted that there was something new in the works and that only 3 people knew what it was, he said even Kenny didn't know...

I took a look at those models and they look like newer variations of models made in the 50s and 60s.hjarnett wrote:what about a 650 660 380l 4004Damon Davis wrote:RIC has made nothing new since 1970

Re: NAMM NEWS!
Damon, as far as the basses go, the only things the 4003 and 4004 have in common is overall shape and four strings. The 4004 series uses humbucking pickups, simplified controls, streamlined bridge, different neck profiles, streamlined tuners, and different wood laminations. While not really "new," the 4004 series started in 1992-3 and has had several detail improvements since. Even the "old" 4003 series has been modernized considerably, although it looks nearly identical to the basses from the 1960s-'70s. There's no question RIC depends on its retro look -- but then so does Fender, Gibson, Gretch, Hofner, . . . .

Re: NAMM NEWS!
Hmmm, perhaps a Ric that could do this? Peace, out.....Goofyfoot.

Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

Damon: One of the realities of life is that not all of our wishes come true.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

a new reissue would have been nice
21 frets would be even better, I can live with the tuners and high gains
though my vintage tuners have never given me a problem.

Re: NAMM NEWS!
Sure it would be exiting to see some new models, or new colors, or feature sets, but as someone once said....you can't have everything.........where would you put it? Seriously, I think the two most important things that Rickenbacker can do are to (1) continue to build high-quality musical instruments, and (2) further work to reduce their order backlog. These two things would go further in satisfying the most customers. Besides.........there still is something in the works, as evidenced by the 'last call' post on the Rickenbacker forum. The website is down right now, and it is possible that this is because it is currently being updated. We shall see...Damon Davis wrote:another disappointing year - RIC just dosen't listen to their customers

A reissue of a 4000 or 4005 would have been nice, but we are only customers who spend our hard earned money on thier products, what right do we have to voice our opinions LOL.Damon Davis wrote:leftybass wrote:What do you want to see...?Damon Davis wrote:another disappointing year - RIC just dosen't listen to their customers

Re: NAMM NEWS!
With Rickenbacker recently cutting models from it's line up to try to help clear the huge backlog of orders, it was always going to be fairly unlikely that they'd offer anything new any time soon.
That said, it's a testament to the superb quality of their products that so many people are really looking forward to the day when new colours/models are announced.
Maybe they could produce one or two less copies of jetglo 330's though, you can't seem to walk out your door these days without tripping over one!
