Number in body and serial number..

Post by Mr.Mow »

Hey dudes, new to the board and new to Rics, just picked up a near mint 2002 360 in Mapleglo on the weekend, love it.. Still trying to figure the use of that 5th knob but hey.. Its an awesome guitar!

There is a penciled number in the control cavity, its CLOSE to the serial number, but doesn't match.. should I be concerned.. or do they never match?

Markings inside the body cavity are just for internal use at RIC.

We change numbers on the line all the time. Don't worry about it!

Damn.. the more I read about Ric the more I'm really amazed.. I see that J Hall posts on here, then a Ric employee comes by to answer a question.. I just don't know what to say, but when was the last time you heard of a company giving a damn..?

I'm so totally impressed by the passion behind this brand.. Thanks guys..

Welcome, Russell! Beautiful 360 there!

The fifth knob 'intricacies' are explained in the manual, available on-line at the RIC corporate site:

http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdfs/manual.pdf

Once you get used to it, it's easy to use.

Its a Ceriatone, They are a Malaysian company who do hand wired knock offs.. Its actually a 18wTMB, had them also make me a 1X12 cab (couldn't find a matching cab the right size..

Also have a Vibrochamp knock off from them, top quality work.

Nice photos Jeffrey (just checked you site), I haven't got a lot of my work up at the moment.. but have a peek www.photobucket.com/russellmurchie .. Black and white is a dying art.. I struggle to find B/W 120 rolls these days..

Nice work, Russell! :D 120 b&w film is still quite abundant, where are you looking for yours? Are the b&w images on your site from film or digital?

I see you are another F1 fan, great. I hope Felipe get the WC this year, I feel he really deserved it in '08.

Marshall knockoffs, eh? How does it sound? The first 'bass' amp I had the pleasure of using while early in my playing was a 1987 with 4-12 cabinet that a friend loaned me for a while, back in the early '70s. It sounded great and was much lighter and more compact than the SUNN 2000S and matching cab he also had.

Here in Melbourne 120 is getting hard to find, only specialist places seem to stock it now and certain types need to be ordered. Stuff on the site is a mix of film and digital, the band stuff is all digital, no way I'd shoot that with film, way too expensive. The F1 stuff was fun, I was working for a video game company, we did an F1 game, somehow I scored a photographers pass for the Brazil F1 in 02.

The amp is great, Nik at Ceriatone does great work, can't compare it to a real Marshall though.. Sounds good to me!
