Who's using SoundClick?
I am, and I think it's a fine little service. But I don't know much about the outfit or how to make the most out of my account. I find the ratings system to be a bit hard to cipher, for example. Can you other users share your thoughts and/or tips about SoundClick music hosting?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Who's using SoundClick?
I use it but I only use it for its most basic of functions, i.e. to upload and share songs (which I write and record purely for fun). I have no idea really what else the site offers, or whether it is any good as a promotional tool for more ambitious composers.
Here I am, by the way ...

I've used it, and still have an account there. It's been a while since I've done anything with our site though. Like others it was a way to share some of our material.

Re: Who's using SoundClick?
I have thought about using it, just as I have thought about using alternative sites like Myspace, or even posting audio clips on my own website. And then there's always good ol' CDBaby.com.

Myspace doesn't even come in on my computer. It's rare when I can get someone's whole page to load. My browser usually bails before the music player appears. This only happens on MySpace, everywhere else I go my computer is pretty zippy but MtSpace always bogs down. I quit trying to visit there anymore.

Yeah, I hear you. I've had troubles with videos bogging down my computer. So I basically quit uploading videos to Myspace.kiramdear wrote:Myspace doesn't even come in on my computer. Since I have a pretty good deal with my web hosting company, I may just fageddaboudit and put up audio files on my web site.

Mr. K.,
At first I had a lot of difficulty maneuvering throughout Soundclick just trying to find different pages for loading, editing, etc. Once I learned, I found the site very accomodating for my purposes, simple streaming. I like it, and appreciate the multiple text boxes allowed for song info. Regarding comments or ratings for users, I haven't ventured as of yet...

That's Miss K., in fact, but no offense taken.indianation66 wrote:Mr. K.,
It seems like we're all at about the same page with SC. I did figure out how to embed the player right into my homepage, using their widget generator and Apple iWeb and that has been a real asset to my hit count on both locations, I bet
But I was mostly wondering how their ratings were generated. There's a total song base of 150,000 and around 10,000 songs in my genre. They break it down both ways for you, per hits in your genre I guess. Most of my songs have risen and dropped off within a week or so, but there's one that's been hanging in there since thanksgiving

Entirely unnecessary, my brother. Since we all are bodiless spirits here, no slight is possible
Cheers to you!

Re: Who's using SoundClick?
Hi Kira Moon! Hey man!
I think of SoundClick as a storage facility. All the charts and ratings are not worth thinking about...I've had number ones that were the result of 60 listens in a day...but, duh, I post a new song on a few songwriting critique sites, people give it a listen, and there it is. But next week, no hits. The majority of listeners are also artists, so it's a terrible way to figure out if you have fans.
Hey Kira, you should try out OurStage.com It's a free site where every month is a competition in several categories. If you win, you get $100, and if that winner wins the monthly final between all the different category winners, you get $5000. Every month. Worth checking out even if you don't join in...there is a lot of good music there. Free is good.

Re: Who's using SoundClick?
Thanks, Mark. I bet your analysis of SoundClick is correct. It is a very nice hosting service, if not a reliable source of opinion. I'll check out the other place you mention.
