I just got done watching a group called "Of Montreal" on the David Letterman show here in the U.S. (Jan. 22, 2009). I'd never seen anything like it, as they had two guys on bass and they played 4001's. One guy did a more traditional bass part and the other guy was playing up high on the neck. Definitely different.
I'm amazed that I found an image. I wasn't making it up.
