"Kira's pictures CRACK me up...
A funny monkey...with a GUN!..
And look, he's MAKING us read this thread...We don't wanna!
So now that you see the "quality" of my unknown-brand dgital camera-mp3-video device,
prolly don't wanna see any more pix, huh? I don't blame you...!
Oh wait...Here's my little "monkey" Nancy Lee, trying to hide from me, in some field in Killarney, I think it was, near the Ring of Kerry...
She was apparently tired of me , whcih I know, is hard to understand...

1) Ricks being so easy to play (one of my first impressions also) frees you up to create. You can concentrate on what, not how, you play.
SO true, and I really was intrinsically thinking that- SOme of my lines this AM were almost effortlesly fluid and fast, surprised me for real.
Only issue is at times keeping the pocket, as in "more is less". but the fluidity of these instruments is truly incredible.
2) Also one of my first thoughts. How different would my life have turned out if I had played a Rick back then. Then I thought of the kids and my wife and all was in balance again.
No wife/kids, loverly S.O. (who thinks I spend this time on the 'net looking at naked things...)
But on the road...It can get SOOO lonely.... and what music afficianado of the girlie persuasion could possibly resist the allure and cahnce to be close to...
A FIREGLO 4003!!??
Re: The Box...
Ummm, Larry,
About that second photo ... (inner artiste speaking) what to say? ... I'm sure you're a really nice fella, but ...
what are you using there, some kind of pinhole, or camera obscura and rendering by Crayola?
Kinda reminds me of work from a local guy here. I recommend his work. But keep him away from the espressos.

All I wanna do is rock!
Re: The Box...
Wow, Kira, I have a picture of that photographer with his sister when they were babies!
I think you can do much better than that second photo with a pinhole camera!

Re: The Box...
Yes. lets get ON track, Rickenbacker people!!!
So sure my picture looks like day-old Haggis...
Didn't I tell you that?? Did't I?
But no- you went right ahead and demanded I post some more of my..
NEW FireGlo 4003-
Oh, wow, am I liking this Bass...
But you see, the POS camera was a GIFT from my Father who three years back, at age 94 was not as technologically hip and adept at modern devices, so he mail-ordered for this ****** thing that takes pix like...
Not that I'm exactly gonna win prizes, even with a Leica, but let me continue, for THAT is the track...
Some Pics-that's me, next to last, stage right... off of Catalina Island, several years back... With a Bluefin Tuna, that I caught on 12-lb test!!! I said.... 12-lb test. Now granted, this was only a "football" tuna, maybe 15-lbs, and the other schoolies that day were 20-30 lb class-
But just as you here know Rickenbackers in their glory- What it TAKES to catch a Bluefin Tuna on 12-lb test...
Listen... RESPECT!
Then below, is an autograph from none other than Ron Carter, when he performed at ...wow... Catalina Jazz Club (hmmm-didn't even think of that...) with his nontet....You might imagine there was superb bass playing that evening.
Nontet- think about that!
But the Point-
This is the most interesting thread on RRF- It should win a prize.
Drama, Pathos, Sex, Boredom, Insultry flying, subtle put-downs---Think about it...
"The Box"
Started by a Man who 3 weeks ago- didn't even have a Rickenbacker Bass, never even played one.
Then- A Laredo ! Oh Joy, Oh enlightenment!
And now-
"The BOX"-
the story of a newbie to RRF, posting about his awe and reaction to the Classic Ric Bass, a 4003-
Asking for help with colors (remember "VOTE!"? sure ya do...)
So the saga continues, perhaps destined to go on forever and ever, as I humbly come to you all, for support and LOVE, and endure the "numpty" slings and arrows of those who would TOY with the heart of a Bassist just sayin'...he digs his Ric, and it does a lot of things his other 7 basses didn't do and...
So THAT is the point...A celebration of my writing skillz, enlightening some, fascinating others, pi**ing yet others off- FORCING them to read, sickening yet others, but ignored by few.
SO come--- break out pics from your galleries. continue to the logevity of this -
It's all unified and it's all good.
Hey, I can get back to the bass anytime- I'm feelin' it and gettin' it all schweaty, but don't worry-
I wipe it down before lovingly placing it back in the case...
So have at it...
I'll be here listening...waiting...
So sure my picture looks like day-old Haggis...

Re: The Box...
Wow, If I ever got started on THOSE....
Once I was fishing for HALIBUT, and...
Okay Okay-
I have a ? about the 4003 Bridge-The type in the manual is very small-
String height adjustment-
looks to me like there are (2) small upward allen screws, do they adjust the string saddle heights?
And how about those "thumbscrew" -like knurled knobs on each side?
What's the deal?
Might be in the book, eh? But then again...If I get a rapid response we'll have time for me to recount an Albacore trip I took a few years back..
Over 80-lbs of fresh tuna-
Would anyone like some recipes???
They're very good!
Now about that bridge...
(Boy this bass guitar is the shiznitz,,,FEELS lighter than the Laredo, wassup with that? The specs say different...

Re: The Box...
Yes, the two allen screws adjust overall bridge height, and the thumb screws adjust the height of the foam mute. You do know there is a foam string mute, don't you?
