Back in 1976 the BBC wanted to do a radio show about the band that I was in. We had a load of good recordings that we offered the Beeb but they insisted that we played ‘live’ in the studio. We duly wheeled in all the gear (big stuff back then) and played about six numbers live, no overdubs allowed!
I’ve got to say the recordings were very good quality and the ******* that recorded us on their valve driven desks (I kid you not, nice kit actually) really did wear white coats!

It's a John Birch SCDR (I have a greenburst one quite like it).
If you look on my Slade site at http://www.crazeeworld.plus.com/slade/pages/gear.htm there is a fairly comprehensive list of Slade's gear. The Birch was a 'loaner'.
Jim used a firelo 4001 style bass for the Nobody's fool video
It was never seen afterwards. IF it is a Ric, it's very heavily modded.
Possibly borrowed - the neck pickup looks modded...
