Jamming with Pink Floyd

Post by ozover50 »

Some of you may be aware that I'm a huge fan of Pink Floyd and an idea poppped into my head last Sunday while I was jamming with Ron Viney.

Since I'm not a songwiter I'm probably never going to post anything original here so please excuse my use of the great band as a backing track.

The track I'm playing along with is "Breathe" from the "Pulse" live set. It was recorded using a Zoom H4 recorder placed some 12 feet from my rather large stereo system with an amp off to one side. The guitar used was an AM Deluxe Strat, played through a Korg AX-1500G pedal with the 'tripping' effect selected into a Roland Cube 60 amp set to flat. The volume level is a bit low and I'm a little high in the mix but I figured it was better to be heard than not!

Your thoughts?

Hmmmmmm................ link not working. Bear with me!

BREATHE

Cheers,

H

Well, you're one up on me, Scotty. Us antipodeans rarely get to see huge acts like Floyd and if they do visit our fair shores you're talking 'arm and leg' territory. Second rate tickets to see Clapton during his coming tour start at $299!

Oh well...... guess I'm stuck with a Floyd tribute band - and there are a couple of good 'uns around! :D

Stuck? The trubute band I watched when I was at your place was simply fantastic. Imagine playing in a PF tribute band that sounds exactly like the original? I would be in Heaven

Aitch -- our PBS (Public Broadcasting System) network in the U.S. has broadcast a fantastic concert by "Australia Pink Floyd" several times, and they are really first rate ! Sound just like the Floyd and you have to do a double-take, because you don't recognize the singers and band members. They also went on tour in the U.S. last year... the PBS station was auctioning off tickets as part of their annual fundraising effort.
I understand the Aussie Floyds played at relatively good size venues here....

Is this the same "tribute band" Brian was referring to ?

Rich F.
