I can never wait until they're done before I post these things...but then again, it's easier to change things before it's done. Here's some white funk...still needs stuff like better drumbeats and some instrumentation in the middle bit, but you get the idea. Haven't gotten serious about the mix yet, still laying down the tracks. Any comments or advice would be most welcome.

Good start. I dig the vocals. Great harmonies as usual. Puts me in the mind of Prince. (Go figure, he being a fellow Minneapolisian. Minneapolite?)

Funk isn't my area of expertise, but it sounds like you're aware of the areas that need to be addressed - the drums in particular. A smoother beat, one that grooves is in order, and a different kit might sound more cohesive as well. The voices in this recording sound like a rock kit. I'd suggest in the least a deeper, fatter sounding snare.
