Post by melibreits »

Been listening to Mary Chapin Carpenter quite a bit lately. and in a perusal of her site I found a couple of great pics of her playing her 620 FG.

What a great-looking guitar, and it looks like she really enjoys playing it, too!

I have never really listened to Mary Chapin Carpenter, but I must say that her and her Rick look very good together!

I've definitely never listened to her but if she sounds as good with a Rick as she looks then maybe further investigation is warranted.... :D

Although her music is mainly marketed in the "country" genre, I find that her songs are intelligently written with some great pop appeal--not the usual twangy cornball stuff commonly associated with country music. For a nice taste of her Rickenbacker jangle, check out her songs "The Hard Way,"" Passionate Kisses," and "Quittin' Time."

I know I've posted this picture before, but she also plays a truly gorgeous 620/12 in a very rare pre-COY RIC factory Blueburst:

Couldn't find a YouTube video of her actually playing a Ric, but you can clearly hear it in this song, which I already mentioned in the previous post....

And also in this one:

Here she is with the 620/12 FG live.

We have the Come On Come On CD, and it credits John Jorgenson as playing the 12 string. It would have been this Ric:

Wow, is that ever cool-looking..... Is that a 450/12? I love the oven knobs and gold guards.... It looks old. I'm trying to figure out if the color is Turquoise or an ambered Sea green or Blueboy. Whatever it is, I like it!

I love that MCC song, too. I think she coordinated her outfit to match her guitar.... (Well, I guess I've been known to do that too from time to time.... )

I guess you'll look cool no matter what you're wearing when you play a Ric!

We started a thread about that guitar a few months ago. We speculated the Ric was a modified and refinished 450/12. The middle pickup and oven knobs were probably added. (There might be a few modifications I'm missing - I don't know...) It also appears to have Jorgenson's own signature on the pickguard.
