I can offer a few. I had Jeff Rath do the VVT trick on my Cheyenne I and Laredo back in '04. Please don't ask me to compare the sound now with before, because I really couldn't tell you. The Laredo also has a swapped out TRC (thanks, Joey), and is strung BEAD.

My test ship for various aftermarket items is my Monte 4003. Here it was with all of the mods still in place. It was a VP model, so already had the Toaster, but I added a Pickguardian gold-backpainted Plexi "Signature" pickguard, a stock white TRC painted gold to match, the clear-over-chrome Pickguardian treble-pickup surround, and a chrome/brass Hipshot replacement bridge. Since then, I cracked the pickguard badly, so reinstalled the original, and I'm thinking about selling off the Hipshot.

I can't claim credit for the modifications carried out to this bass. Former owner Marc Seligman started with '75 4000 and created this one-of-a-kind 4000CS.

The respray was carried out by Mike Dolan, with faux walnut wings. A Rickenbacker V63 RI horseshoe pickup and the Hipshot bridge combine to produce the most "piano-bottom end" of any of my basses.

I thnink all of the mods and all of the basses are very cool; and I certainly admire those, who unlike myself, have the skill to do those mods...

But the sound you MAY hear is this man rolling in his Grave!!!

Well, Adolph never had anything to do with the conception, design, or any aspect of the Rickenbacker bass as we know it (except for the HS, I suppose), so I doubt he'd give a damn. :)

George Beauchamp conceived, designed and built the horseshoe pickup.

Well, my Cii/8 is still undergoing it's slow conversion when precious free time is available so I'll just post my Blackened Laredo.

With the painted Blackstar-ish fretboard and black hardware.....

With the addition of an ACG filter based preamp and subtle green ghost flames to mask a drill mishap during electronics install (sorry for the bad pic).....
