That's awesome...
Jess Oliver also made and sold his own Model Bass amp, didn't last too long-
It had a mechanicla flip-top feature wherein you pushed a button I guess, and the head RAISED outta the cabinet!
THere may be one in that picture, I've read and seen one once by JO himself on E-Bay IIRC.
That's quite a story there.
Head/Cabinet 1&2 Believe me, hang onto that.
Now about a mere 100 Watt RMS, from tubes.
Same as with my V4BH amd without being technical, which I'm certainly not anyway, the power/headroom/volume of a tube rig won't "double" as it does with SS by decreasing the ohms, so 100 watss is what you get.
But what the *&&^?
I have not played a room without SOund Re-inforcement, even small rooms, for I don't know how long.
The 'Pegs, including the B15R have one of the cleanest DI's around.
I've had morons state that the 3-PRO lacks pro volume...Yeah, for what? A garage band?
Been my backline for a 450-seat room for almost 2 years and you can hear my Bass outside the room.d
It's called "mixing" with FOH, done by a "soundman". I could play any venue of note with that B-15 rig you have, and the Ext. cab would only add flavor and wind to ME!! on stage.
I've used "my" B-15 (V4BH) as a stand-alone, either with a SVT-15E, whcifh makes it your rig, sans flip-top/horn; or with that and a 4x8- No problem.
Not Death-Metal metallica loud, but loud enough -plenty.
Thanks for that info-
I'm a major AMpeg fan- I see all sorts of **** about them insofar as the Loud era, I have faith...in something.
ANyone moans, let's see them run a business-in Today's market and economy.
Rant over.
I have (6) rigs- soon to be an absolutely amazing 7, the JAGUAR rig I posted is beyond belief-
Ampeg and Rickenbacker is so good a match, I can only hope that everyone else with whatever they use, has as big a grin as I do when I'm using the Laredo or 03 thru my 3-PRO.
Superb bass.

I have seen and played with the power up/down switch on the one that is at my local vintage guitar shop near my home; it is still there. One of these days I will actually plug a bass in a check it out!Elnjaybass wrote:Jess Oliver also made and sold his own Model Bass amp, didn't last too long-

Jeff, outta curiosity, what are they asking for price-wise on that Oliver?
Re: For you SVT fans.... a holy grail of sorts!
I don't recall, I'll have to stop by there sometime this week. It is very large and heavy, so local pickup would be the order for the day.

Man, that's great!ricaddic wrote:Wow I love the Gibson Ripper, still wish I had mine, extremely regret parting with it, I traded it in along with a 72 4001 back in the 70's to get a Ampeg SVT with two 8-10 cabs, that was an awsume bass.
I always loved my Ripper!
The three Elements of your story are the same as mine!
I traded my Gibson Ripper and Ampeg B-18N (plus $400.00 in payments) to get my 72 Rick 4001.
That was 1982/1983 for me!
Thanks alot to all of you guys!
I love this Ampeg rig!

Ya, exactly!Elnjaybass wrote:Wanna sell it??
Especially givin my most recently attempted selling fit/fiasco to get into the "MOOG Owners Club"!
This just illustrates that "When It's Right, It's Right and when it's not it just doesn't happen"!
I would love to get the newly reissued "Moog Taurus Pedals"!

Re: For you SVT fans.... a holy grail of sorts!
What happened with the MOOG owner's club??
I got on a "whim" the MoogerFooge Bass MurF 105 a while back, then added foot switch and expression pedal.
I love it, it's FUN! I have it set up on my Mesa PH212 and on top of a LMII LE---
one of my award-winning pics provided...
Great effect, and capable of making some very musical tones, btw.
Interestingly, I DON"T like to use it, except either bypassed completely, or on "1" which is no effect, just filters, like an eq sorta, with my Rickenbackers, either the 4004L or 4003...
I dunno, I just feel that I do not want to mess with the intrinsic tone(s) of a Ricenbacker bass, like it's sacriledge or something!
But the rig, with the MoogerFooger on top- Killer, really, can't say enuff about the (WIne Taurus!) Mesa cab or using a 2x12, and TOO much has already beensaid about MarkBass!
So-
You WON't sell me your B-15 rig then???

Chris Squire messes with his tone all the time, so have fun with the Moogerfooger.Elnjaybass wrote:Interestingly, I DON"T like to use it, except either bypassed completely, or on "1" which is no effect, just filters, like an eq sorta, with my Rickenbackers, either the 4004L or 4003...

Re: For you SVT fans.... a holy grail of sorts!
The Bass MuRF is very high-quality sound-wise (ain't cheap either!) and it is a different effect than most straight-ahead "stomp-boxes" for want of a better term.
I have a good compliment of BOSS pedals inc. the Flanger, Synth, Limiter/Enhancer, OD (don't use) GEB-7 (actually very powerful but my amps are too good now!) and Chorus- I went thru a period of "playing" with effects, and it is tons of fun.
Bass MuRF acts a bit differently, but is very musical in it's way. I like it.
However, now I am in the "Reverential-Awe and Honeymoon" phase of Rickenbacker bass-ship, and am so entranced that I just want to plug and play and be wowed.
I played my laredo this AM, the strings are GONE! I need to cahnge them, but still-
THUMPED like a so and so-
ANd the 4003-

Re: For you SVT fans.... a holy grail of sorts!
Topic??
The topic is amplification, and life itself, so it's tracking fine.
Sounds like a bad trip/vibe with that amp, if I may revert to the late 60's so my way would be to move on, there are others.
To each their ZOne, but the "Rush" logo would mean nothing to me.
The amp would if it was electronically sound and I liked what it sounded like, but the "logo"...
Nothin'.
I can appreciate someone else's "treasure" tho-- sorta.
