Hey Lynda!

DO NOT cancel your order!

Even though there are bills to pay with the income tax check, it's always nice to have something to anticipate. Even though waiting for a Rick is torture, in a perverse way, it's kinda fun! (Right, Jim?)
You'll get through the current financial crisis, and then you'll start checking the shipping lists daily. You may even start to mentally complain to yourself that it HASN'T shipped yet! And then, if it still hasn't shipped, you'll become an obsessive lunatic like the rest of us, openly complaining on the forum. And you will get lots of sympathy! Then, your baby will finally arrive, and you will be in the blissful state of Rick Ownership, where there is never a bad day.

See? You're feeling better already!

Thanks Bob,

By the way, just have to post this for you guys. As I said earlier, I'm currently also waiting delivery of a somewhat Larrivee custom (number 66 of 78). The guys over on the Larrivee Forum who are waiting with me are going out of their minds waiting. We had to have our orders in by January 2, 2009 with delivery in the spring of 2009. So, we've now been officially waiting one month. I keep telling them that spring is anywhere between March 20 (spring Equinox) and June 21 (summer Solstice). Unfortunately, they're not amused. Of course, I also keep telling them to wait for a Ric. What a bunch of weenies!

Hopefully, you'll be playing some nice gigs with this stash of guitars - you'll have the 360 paid off in no time!

I'm a newbie that happens to have good taste in guitars and enough money to support my current GAS habit. That being said, the husband wants a Rob Allen bass which is gonna cost substantially more than my Ric.

Tell me about the Larrivée. I have a rare LV-19, made in 2003, with vine fingerboard, bridge and headstock inlays.

lyric_girl wrote:Ok folks, I haven't been here much lately and I'm looking for advice. I'm the one that has the REM ink on my arm that features Peter Buck's 360 prominently in the middle. I have felt that in order not to be such a poser that I needed a Ric, and my stupid husband planted that idea in my head. You would think he would have learned by now (25 years, but no)! So, I ordered a JetGlo 360-6 on September 19, 2008. My ETA at that time was 12-18 months...I figured I was in for at least 18-24 months.

My original plan was to pay for her with my upcoming tax return. Well, my upcoming tax return is going to pay off my credit cards instead. I almost feel like bailing on the Ric, but figure I will regret it later. What I'm trying not to do is end up putting the balance back on my credit card when she arrives. Thoughts? Ideas?

Many thanks,

Lynda

PS Forgot to mention that currently I play acoustic, have never played an electric...
Easy solution. Use your credit card! It will be paid off by then right? Sorry, that's not very helpful is it. : )

Lynda, have you considered a used one? You could scoop up a deal and get the guitar you want (WHEN you want).

I certainly understand the appeal of a new Ric, but at the current list prices, with dealers getting increasingly overstocked with Rics (as the economy futher affects demand), and prices getting lower and lower on ebay- Used Rics, even ones a year old or less, used Rics are looking better than ever.

Plus, a 360/6 JG isn't a tall order at all in the used market- I could probably find you a handful right now if necessary.

I'm also anti new-anything as well, so my view might be a bit skewed! :P

I'm curious Lynda, have you ever had a chance to try out a 360? If not, you're more than welcome to take mine for a test drive - that might cement your resolve to wait out your 360!

For Colin, this is Canada and finding a used one is frequently as difficult as finding a new one unless you happen to be standing in the 12th Fret or Folkway Music when one arrives. I don't want to deal with the border, so this is why I'm buying from Canada.

For 86kubicki, have never played a Ric of any sort. Might take you up on your offer. Thanks.

I never tire of seeing your Larrive'e. When I take a decent pic of mine I will post it. That hasn't happened yet LOL (nor has it been a priority). I don't know why but if I get a decent pic with my digital camera it seems to happen by chance. I never had issues with my 35mm cameras.

Lynda, I must agree with those who say not to cancel your order. While waiting for my 4003 a while back, I found that the wait time estimates can be way off. While you may receive it when expected, I wouldn't hold my breath. What is more likely is that it will be longer than expected. (mine arrived 6 months after it was expected) Who knows what may happen between now and then.
