A recent photo at a fun filled vintage motorcycle rally/gig at Hurley Skateboards in Costa Mesa, CA. I'm playing the very first Rick guitar I ever bought, and the guitar I learned to play on; my AZ blue 365 WB.

Cool pic, Paologregorio. Ricks and Triumphs go nicely together.paologregorio wrote:A recent photo at a fun filled vintage motorcycle rally/gig at Hurley Skateboards in Costa Mesa, CA. I'm playing the very first Rick guitar I ever bought, and the guitar I learned to play on; my AZ blue 365 WB.
Well...that is until Triumph moved production of the Bonnie to China.

What?! There's still a UK factory. Where did you hear that Bonnevilles were being built China?rickaddict wrote:Well...that is until Triumph moved production of the Bonnie to China.
In any case, my stuff's all vintage, so it was built in the UK.

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric
I heard on the New Bonneville Forum (that I don't really go to anymore) that all of Triumph's classic line are built there as of 2008. I have a 2004 Thruxton that I bought new. It really bums me out. It was a huge selling point and seemed to be such a source of pride for the brand. I mean...nothing against China...they make good stuff, but the whole thing smacks of greed...I would have paid more for a new Triumph if that's what they needed to do to keep building them in the UK.paologregorio wrote:What?! I'm in the market for a new bicycle too and am finding that almost anything with an American or European name on it (under $3,000.00) is being made in China as well.
Ampeg, Triumph, Bianchi, Trek...what's next?
Not Rickenbacker!
Edit: Okay, I snooped around on the internet a bit. It appears that the information I read on that forum wasn't entirely correct (You never can trust info you get from people writing on a forum, you know?!)
Triumph's other factory is not in China, but Thailand:

Consider a used one, and here on the forum you can trust members to fairly represent and price their offerings. Shipping and VAT may bite, but used imported can be cheaper than new over there. Something to consider.Mr.Fingers wrote:Yeah, I'm searching my funds together right now. The only bummer is that Rickenbacker raised the prices with 25% (they cost here around 2.000€), and here in Europe Rickenbackers are quiet rare (you don't see them that often in shops). William, welcome to the forum - good luck in your quest for your Ric! I hope it comes sooner than later. My son and two nephews are in Belgium right now… loving the country, towns and people. In Ghent leaving for Brussels tomorrow. They really like Kulminator in Antwerp – lots of great beers!
Sean great looking bass!
Paul love the ‘vintage’ shot. The 365 look like polished glass!

Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric
This is the first pic I have of me playing a Ric since 1984, and the first public outing for the 660TP. The occasion was the final rehearsal for the centenary service for my church. We had a large band (two guitars, two keys, bass, drums, two flutes, two sax and one violin) and a 45-person choir. The service was fabulous. Sorry the 660 is obscured by the music stand, and apologies if the image gives anyone nightmares.....
