Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
Scott's pic looks cool but almost unplayable. Definitely not a slap bass
Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
Huh... What is it about HS pickups?...

Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
Actually, as the covers are cosmetic, you could do this if you took them off.......s4001 wrote:I'll start taking orders at the next RRF confluence.

Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
I thought the horseshoes were magnetic? Or was that just the originals back in the 60s and before? Either way, they wouldn't be horseshoes without the horse shoe part, right?gareth wrote:Actually, as the covers are cosmetic, you could do this if you took them off.......s4001 wrote:I'll start taking orders at the next RRF confluence.
Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
As I understand it, the original horseshoes were magnetic, the reissues are not. In either case, I don't think you can just remove the covers as they are kinda permanently mounted, and, it wouldn't be a horseshoe anymore...paologregorio wrote:I thought the horseshoes were magnetic? I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
I thought even the new HS covers become magnetized over time.
It's too early in the morning to talk about our relationship !

Anybody ever put two horseshoes in a bass? That might be neat, huh?
Seeing I have an extra magnet-shoe'd pup laying around, maybe I should pull out the router for the V63.....

Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
Actually...they aren't permanently mounted. It's just a matter of turning 4 screws and putting a few washers between the back plate and the pickup to fill the space formerly occupied by the (cosmetic only) horseshoes. Makes the bass lighter, easier to play, and better looking.cjj wrote: In either case, I don't think you can just remove the covers as they are kinda permanently mounted, and, it wouldn't be a horseshoe anymore...

Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
I would hate to think of what would happen to the neck integrity if you routered for a HS near the neck.

Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
How about two horseshoes on a 4005? Discuss.
Re: Two horseshoes on a bass?
What IS all this nonense about "two Horseshoes" on a bass?
Just the one has always been quite enough for me...
