Volume control issue...

Post by k5koy »

Hello, I have noticed that my treble volume knob does not function the full range of motion. It seems to start working about 3/4 of the way through. Is this typical? Is there a fix?. It makes it very difficult to set proper volume control in such a short turn of the knob. Any suggestions?

Sounds typical of any passive volume pot.

I'd say it's typical of a linear taper volume pot which works in a... well, linear fashion.

The reason linear pots have such a drastic sweep and then almost nothing is because we hear sound in a logarithmic manner.

Audio Taper pots compensate for this and we hear a more even sweep from top to bottom.

I always thought Rics came with a audio taper pots though....
