Hmm, this is getting a bit confusing. This new thread about today being RRF New Bass Day, and my other thread about my new bass
23 Months.... Where to continue???
Oh what the heck, this one's starting to gain momentum and that one's up to 4 pages, who wants to plow through all that drivel anyway? Onward and upward!!!
OK, I'll admit it, I'm a
Techno-Nerd. All this waiting for 24 hours ( or is it 48 hours?), just guessing as to whether or not it's safe to open "The Box" is silly when we can put
Science and Technology to work here!
Let's see. OK. I know, I'll break out the
Omega Thermocouple Meter and Probe and take some measurements! Us nerdy Engineers
LOVE taking measurements.
So, into the cold "Music Room" we go..... Fire up the Thermocouple Probe (Guaranteed Calibrated Accuracy of 0.1 degree C, but I'm going to press the "F/C" button to read in "F" since we generally use that for more casual measurements over here in the states. If anyone needs 'em in C, let me know and I can point you to several conversion utilities...
OK now. The room is sitting at +47.3F. OK, let's see what the inside of the cardboard box says. Hmm, +48.4F. Close enough, I'm sure I won't hurt the finish on the case if I pull it out of the box...
Now comes the tricky part. How to get the temperature inside the case...
Well, the thermal mass of the case and the bass are such that there's virtually no way we can get a significant temperature change in the 1 to 2 seconds it'll take me to place the probe into the case...
Here goes...
WOW! That's NICE!!! Oops, I didn't really look at it, honest, lest my eyes burn a hole in that cold finish...
OK, let's see, what temperature is the inside of the case?
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
