I got to play mine today for a few hours real loud , it was huge , massive balls with a throaty voice that cut right through , the bass was perfectly set up by Mike and it plays like butter  The one thing that really struck me was it's dead quiet even when the amp is cranked , I am more than pleased :) Honeymoon day 2 comes to a close ...

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for my absence....I've kinda been..........BUSY!

FORGIVE THE LONG POST....

With so many 4004Cii and new posts, I guess I'll just copy & paste this on all of them. SO, my apologies in advance if it gets redundant.

Well, my FIRST IMPRESSION when I took the bass out of the case was, WOW, VERY SEXY, then it was "OMG, the NECK IS H U G E", and kinda freaked out. I was a little disappointed it didn't have the flame that the others seemed to have. I kinda bummed out and just put it back in the case. :(
Again, FIRST IMPRESSIONS....I loved the color. I'm not a BLUE kind of guy, but this thing is EYE CANDY for sure! I LOVED the fact it is SO DAMNED LIGHT! OK, so much for my mixed first impressions.

In the past, if I didn't fall in love with a bass the FIRST time I picked it up, off she went. I kept remembering Joey, Woody and a few other folks saying it will take some getting used to. SO, THANK YOU GUYS for that....you brought me back to center slot with those posts.

I went back to the case about 8 hours later, this was yesterday...and thought....OK, I'm not giving up this easily. The wait was too long for me to just bail on it. I dug it out of the case and just started noodling around. Very cool range of sounds. Hmmm, decent CLANK, clear crisp MIDS & HIGHS and I though, OK COOL. The neck was taking some getting used to, but not as bad as I first thought. I am starting to get used to it. My FAVORITE features include the walnut sandwich and the fact it is SO NICE & LIGHT not to mention the kick a@@ sound and the flawless finish work. KUDOS on this one guys! Some more noodling.... NICE THUMP all around, great addition to the flock! Hmm, this may work out after all.

Then, last night, around 8:30 the kids put on some jackass movie PINEAPPLE EXPRESS. I thought, oh GOOD..I'll mess around with the 4004 while pretending to watch this stupid flick! I found my self not tiring near as quickly as I normally do. The hands felt pretty good. The neck had enough meat on it to dig in yet still was still kinda comfy...I still had to work on the new string spacing. THAT is going to take a little getting adjusted to.

By the end of the flick, I was falling pretty hard for this lil gal. I played it constantly for about 2 or 2 1/2 hours and felt like I just picked it up! My physical limitations have always cut my playing sessions short. NOT THIS TIME. I played it past midnight and STILL didn't want to put it down. Words cannot describe that feeling. Got up this morning and started playing it again! The body feels SO GOOD, almost custom made....then I thought, IF a RIC mated with an Alembic...this is basically what the offspring would be! DEAD and I mean DEAD QUIET. It booms but is clear and crisp. Lightweight (Thanks for that one JH) us older guys can appreciate being able to go a bit further with a lighter bass no doubt, all pretty sweet. Just a very comfy bass, everything seems top notch, looks like each & every step great attention to detail was paid. Money well spent. I didn't feel that way when I first got it, but the more I played, the better I felt about it.

SO, if you made it this far....I sure hope these 4004's are hear to stay. It would make a great platform for MANY cool and DREAM type basses. If any of you are dying for an "S" style RIC, go for this one. You will love it. THANKS to each and every one of you who had the patience to put up with my moaning for the past................................................few years!
