Very cool! With a little bit of hardware substitution, you could make this the ultimate "None More Black" RIC Bass!

Just don't paint the fretboard black -- it's cool the way it is.

Great looking Laredo Jason, I think Laredo's look best in JG.

I think it would look cool to black-out the dot markers, sort of Shadow like.

It does seem that way. It's about time too!

Congrats and enjoy your 4004L. Jason!

Thanks for all the compliments, guys.

The only thing I'm going to modify are the strap bolts. I know I'm probably in the minority but I never was a fan of locking straps and I really dig the damper mute chrome strap bolts that RIC sells on their website (item #5904). I like their look. Very stylish IMO.

i am really going to have to get my hands on one of these--i keep coming back to my cii over the v63 and the 4000,oddly enough for the feel of the neck on the cii,as well as a completely different sound from the other 2 of course. i loved brian's blacked-out fretboard, but with either chrome or black hardware, yours is a sleek great looking bass, jason.

Jason great looking bass... I love the Laredo - as others have said 'the 4004 is one of Rickenbackers best kept secrets'. Congratulations!
