My "New" New Ukulele!

Post by octagon »

I'm so excited because I just won this Martin Style 0 on ebay. This my new new uke because I already told about my old new uke on Friday. That one is just a junky one that TT autographed but this is more like the ones he actually played(his favorite was a 1930 Martin Style 1).

Nice one , Mitch :D

Are you gonna learn "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" first.

My "new" old ukulele is the one my aunt and uncle brought back from Hawaii to my parents back in 1965. We found it when we were clearing out my parents house and I still remembered a few chords on it.

Very nice Martin, Mitch.

Thanks John!Well, today my Martin has arrived but I am afraid to open the box for fear of damaging the finish until it has warmed up for 24-48 hours(if I can wait that long) because it has had a long cold journey from frigid New England to polar Minnesota and I don't want the finish to check from to fast a change of temperature.

My faithful watchcat Balloo is watching over it like a mother hen(even though he is a boy) He hasn't moved for hours.

Mitch,

I don't think Balloo's interested in your new uke. He's claiming dibs on the packing materials.

You are right. That is why I put it up there in the first place thinking it would be out of his reach but, alas,he is indefautigable. :(

I do hope it's not packed in peanuts, much as Balloo might disagree with me. At least the box will provide a good scratching post and a rousing game of hide-and-seek

Oh heck,Balloo convinced me that it would be ok to take a peek and "oh by the way,I'll take that packing material,if you don't mind" he said with a mischievious grin

Nice one, Mitch. I hope it's as nice as you expected. Let us see some video of you together :D ( You can fake "tiptoe" with just 1 - 4 - 5 chords)

Thanks for the posts guys.Well the Martin sounds great but it doesn't want to stay in tune.I think it just needs some some new strings. The thing I really like about the Martin is,even though it is a tiny soprano uke,the fret board has as much real estate as my larger concert size uke.Very comfortable.
