A lot of the "New Rick Smell" is the aroma of the materials in the case, primarily the glue that holds the fabric to the foam or the foam to the case. It's kind of a fruity smell, I think. Could be some smell of the Turtle Wax, too.

Not the Turtle Wax. It's the case materials and the glining glue.

Go to any music store that sells guitar cases. Open up a molded case (TKL is a good choice...). Have a sniff...

Nirvana.

And no Rickenbacker in sight.

I don't normally go around sniffing non-food products around the house, but for the sake of science, I made the sacrifice.
8) I can verify Paul's testimony.
TW has more of a bitter smell, or kinda the opposite of fruity, in any case.

Funny how those SKB cases vary in smell. Some of them smell like chocolate, some smell like vanilla, the ones that the DCM's came in smell like cherries. The newest SKB case that I got a couple months ago hardly has any smell at all.

Gosh, I'm just so disillusioned. :(

And I thought I had a nose for quality. Any cheapie could smell just as sweet in a RIC case

My '82 case has hardly any smell left to it. I think I'll toss in a hankie wet with Zymol. :D That stuff smells heavenly!

I think RIC could make a small fortune if they could figure out how to get this scent in a spray can and sell it in the boutique!
