Thanks for your thoughts, Frank. As far as I'm aware everybody over here is OK although there is an infrequent poster who lives in an area currently under threat. Let's just hope he's safe and well.

There is a very high concentration of forumites in Victoria, which is where the fires were/still are, but I think most of us were lucky enough to have missed the areas of fire damage. One of my work mates is absent today because he and his family are staying in the middle of the state. They managed to escape the fire, but their suburb is a disaster zone (Kinglake). He most likely lost his house, but he doesn't know because no one, apart from emergency response personell, is allowed in the disaster zone.

We just covered it again on our newscast - over 100 dead. I sure hope the fires are soon under control and then out. We're all hoping for the best, Australia!

Heard about this on NPR a couple of days ago. If I remember right I nearly cried. Bless all of you in the midst of that, may as many of you that can get out unscathed...

Likewise, Si.

I attended a briefing with the Government minister yesterday morning. Sadly, we can expect the death toll to head towards 300, with 1000 houses totally destroyed and another 4000 damaged.
