Did I miss the part where someone came out in this discussion and said fakes were OK? I don't think that's been the case.
Perhaps not in this discussion, Matt............ only in dozens before it.

Confluence attendees cannot be categorised in any way shape or form. They come from all walks of life, have different priorities when it comes to Rickenbacker guitars and more often than not are there for the 'people experience', so perhaps those who have never yet attended one but are prepared to put forward their impressions should make the effort...... comment without experience is more often than not seen for what it is - devoid of any value.

Hear, hear, Aitch!

And glad to hear also that you are safe...didn't know specifically where you are in relation to the fires.

Hi Paul.

We're all in the 'burbs. The nearest fire to me was about 15km away with a number of the fatal ones within 30km. Thankfully this time the hills in the outer eastern suburbs were spared.

I really wish you had just left your reply to me as one post and made the last bit a separate post. I was not the person who expressed those sentiments, and I do not wish to be painted with that brush.

Please read the post again, Matt - you're misreading it.

You clearly use the word "someone" in your question, not "I". My comment pertains to those "someones", not you.

No, I read it right the first time. You took one line from my post, quoted it, replied to it, then added a response to someone else's post that expressed some negative comments about people who attend confluences. Sentiments I did not make and do not hold. That is the sum total of my point. Feel free to go on telling me I somehow missed yours.

OK then...... I misread your response to my post...... aaargh!!.

I can't alter the post, Matt, as it's not in my section but please allow me to state for the record that the sentiments expressed in the last paragraph of my post on February 9th were in no way intentionally directed toward yourself. I apologise for any inference that you or other members may have derived from it.

You are correct. I made the comment that Mr. Bishop disagreed with. His post should have been directed towards me, not you.

Folks, I'm just going to turn on an amber light with the direction this thread might be heading.

Terms like "Rick snobs" and "Rick purists" are likely to upset most Forum members. After all, we are here because of a shared interest in Rickenbackers, not knock off copies. The trademark issue will always raise a debate between those who understand the topic and those who don't. It happens in many Fakenbacker posts and I'm sure it will continue to do so in the future.

Earlier in this thread a number of people have attempted to provide a different perspective about confluence attendees, particularly to those who have never been to one, following earlier remarks. Again, let's try and be respectful towards each other and refrain from making generalizations about fellow Forum members. It's easy to see how such comments can raise the temperature.

Let's move on....... :D

For the record, that 4080 (Serial Number OH 4975) is real and the oldest one that I know to exist.
