2009 Rickenbacker bass question....could they be in stores?

Post by rokkitt »

Hello,

Is there a chance of 2009 Ric Basses in stores? Right now, as we speak? Probably not, but I have to ask.

Here is the story......

just played a "brand new" 4003 JG today at the White Plains NY Sam Ash

the serial number was vaious numbers on the one end of the input jack plate....just like on my 88 4003

but, on the other end of the input jack plate, the "top" if you will, had an "09" stamped into the chrome input jack plate

does the 09 mean 2009?

just askin!

and, the neck and the playability was very very good, and got better the more I played the bass

Go Away Bad Gas! Away! Bad Gas!!!!!

Yes, that is an '09, and it should have full width inlays like this:

If I remember correctly, the SN is generated when the work order is cut. Could an instrument have been cut, finished, setup, and shipped since the first week of January? Sure.

yes, it did have full length shark teeth!

very cool, very nice bass

so, it was a 2009.....that is awesome!

I have too many basses, and have no more music budget...

that is NOT awesome!

definately would purchase that one, it is very very nice, and felt better the more I played it

Why would it matter if it's an '09, they haven't changed since '08

There were 2 4003's and a 360 in the SamCash in Ontario while I was there this week. So yes, they are popping up on the walls. It will be interesting to see how long they last....

Now that Fender prices are beginning to catch up with Ric (and Ernie Ball/Music Man) I think more people will start shopping for Rics as well (now they're only several hundred more as opposed to $1000), which may increase demand. ****!

The NAMM instruments were '09's. My new 4004Cii TG is an 08-46xxx though. I was a little disappointed.... for about a half a second!

The 4003 I just got was S/N 09-02xxx, so 2009's are being shipped.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I played a 4003MG made in 2009 already. The neck was VERY thick, so I passed it.

Interesting, that's what I thought of the 2009 I got. It'll be interesting to hear other people's impressions of 2009 4003's...

The neck on my May '08 4003 is thin like those on my two '73 4001s.
